@kriller2
Yes I came to the same conclusion (see my previous post) although since my card has 768mb I suspect the problem isn't so much that I haven't got enough video ram but more that, for whatever reason, the sea foam textures are not kept in video ram but rather swapped in and out again as they are needed. Whether Leo can do anything about this I'm not sure but I would guess that he can't. It may be an Nvidia driver issue or it may be that the devs didn't allow for caching.. |

Just to clarify one more thing; without either of the cloud files, there is nothing in the ROW folders that reduces cloud speed. With just ROW only, the clouds will move at stock speed. Is that correct? Thanks. PS: You might want to edit and clarify the first post with the cloud downloads, becasue it's still confusing, as there is a 'very very' and a 'Double'.

Question about the lightning.
Should the lightning textures be triggered everytime you hear thunder? I have yet to see any lightining, ever; and I've spent a lot of time storm chasing just to see it. I get tons of thunder, but no lightning. I have ROW in the JSGME in the correct sequence, the last being the Special effects folder, and it does overwrite the lightning textures from the 'ROW textures' folder. All my graphics settings options are maxed. Is the lightning too faint to see during the daytime? Does it have to be a nighttime storm? Anyone got a screenshot of lightining, just so I can see it?

Hi all !!
![]() I 'm coming back here and to SH4 and i wish to use this fantastic mod, but : i'm so confused in the way to install it ... I just use TM 1.6 and just a few mods. I did a fresh install this morning and downloaded ROW + Row special Effects_w_Nsms ; In which order do i install all this with JSGME ?? Confused cause in ROW, there is a folder named "Special Effects" or something .. and seem to have some sounds which are still in "Row_Special_Effects_W_Nsms" Confused cause in TM 1.6, there is NSM but is it 3.3 ?? Do i need NSM 3.3 ? Confused cause there are many "scene.dat" in different folder and mod .. Well, confused and a bit lost .. But, anyway : Seems you have done great work !! |

I believe you would activate TM 1.6 first. I'm not sure if the NSM version in TM is 3.3, but I would assume it is.
Just to be safe, you could activate TM 1.6, then NSM 3.3. You will get an overwrite notice, but if 3.3 is already in TM 1.6, it won't matter. And you do not need to use the "ROW Scene install" folder, or the "Hollywood Effects" folder, as those files are in the "ROW Special Effects W/NSM" folder. Your JSGME should be in this sequence... TM 1.6 NSM 3.3 (might not need) ROW Textures ROW sub Reflections ROW misc Reflections ROW ship Reflections ROW Camera mod ROW Special Effects W/NSM zones (THis will overwrite some ROW Textures, it's ok). I think the Acade vs 4 camera mod is the best one. If not using TM, you definately need the NSM 3.3 to go along with the 'ROW Special Effects W/NSM'.

Hate to say it but what the hell is going on in this topic, 3 pages of confused people!!
Can I suggest that the first post in this topic is the only post updated with links to the required mods, can I also suggest the first post contains the guts of a read.me that explains what people should install, and in which order. I'm sure all this confusion could be avoided quite simply. As for me, i've just wiped SHIV completely to start a fresh install. After 10 minutes and re-reading this topic i'm completely and utterly confused myself! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Big Thanks Monolith !!
I will test all this. I'm not sure, but i think in TM, it is NSM 3.0 .. (Really not sure ..). A "little" thing : In ROW readme, about the "ROW highend_ship_reflections" , sub and misc folder, say Vs 0.5b while i have Vs 0.1 ... So : Have I the good and last one ??? Thanks for all the nice feedback "and alot of confusion lately"
![]() ROW is mostly a mod for adding as much eyecandy as possible in one mod, so it works with all other mods, including TM, RFB as it doesn't change the campaign files or configs, but I suggest you add ROW as the last mod to get the full package, LeoVampire have used alot of time to make this clear on the first page. /Kriller2 Last edited by kriller2; 09-30-07 at 12:54 PM. |

No point getting annoyed Kriller, its a very normal reaction for people who are genuinely confused. You certainly can't blame people for asking how to install your mod if they find the documentation confusing. Its just human nature mate.
For those that are confused, like myself, here's my mod list order. It appears to be working but i've not really put it through its paces yet. I've run Reflections on the Water for a total of about ten minutes now. Man, did it start out good, looking right into the OOD's face as he ordered "All stop!" Whoa! I'm not in Kansas any more, that's for sure. Then I noticed that I was in control room free camera mode by default. I wandered around in a trance, soaking in all the great new lighting effects.
![]() I went to the bridge and the ocean was breathtaking as the submarine moved as part of it, not a gyrostabilized piece of bedrock that somehow could move around the surface of the ocean. I found myself in automatic free camera mode there, too, so I moved around. I could get as close to anything as I wanted, even passing through objects that got in my way. The light played on the boat as I've never seen it before. Just closely examining the deck gun was a transendental experience. This is an amazing mod, a supermod for the environment as Trigger Maru is for the human elements. ![]() Then I looked up. The constellation Orion was high. and about 20º to the right of it was......What the hell is THAT MONSTER? ![]() ![]() In the sky, we measure things just like you do in Silent Hunter 4, by angular distances. And sprinkled throughout the sky are yardsticks, which help us, just like the tools on the chart table of your submarine, to measure the sky. One such yardstick is the belt or Orion, which was prominent overhead. The first standard this yardstick measures is the celestial equator, which passes right through the belt. And the other is an angular distance yardstick. The three stars are almost exactly 1½º apart, making the whole belt 3º long. The other celestial yardstick in the sky there is the...."moon." The moon and the sun are celestial yardsticks, as they measure hundreds of things in the sky, but their diameter is also a universal yardstick as both are almost exactly ½º in diameter. You can fit six of them between the end stars of Orion's belt. Except in this monsterous sky, where the moon is more than six times its actual diameter! Any astronomer or mariner will take one look at Reflections on the Water's moon and sun and say, "It's Frankenmoon!" Then they will realize that any navigation is impossible. Five minutes later ROW will be uninstalled. Why do I think that way? Let us suppose that you took any other aspect of the game and made it six times larger than real. Try the sub's propeller. Is that acceptable? You're laughing! Let's make the sub's interior six times larger than its exterior. It worked for Halo, why not here? We could just multiply all dimensions of the submarine by six while leaving all other ships realistic. That is what you have done with the sky, and it is just as laughable as these stupid examples. While we're having fun, how about just enlarging the captain's gonads by six times. Although they would be spectacular, they would be useless, making neither him, nor any of his lady friends very happy. Similarly, a sun and moon six times their actual size are just ugly, inappropriate and useless characatures of what they really are. Please Mr Modders, treat the sky with the same respect and loyalty to realism as you treat the rest of the envronment. (Battle Hymn of the Republic or Finlandia, choose the choice of your choice, plays softly) Any uneducated farmer from 80 years ago would pick out the problem in a second. Because we are the products of light-drenched skies, where the real sky is banished, and we remain ignorant if its majesty and reality, we overlook a crime here. A crime against reality, and the beauty of reality: a monster masquerading as a hero, a serial killer as president of the PTA. Oh, the humanity! ![]()

2. The information on page 1 most certainly was NOT clear. No one would have known we needed both the original NSM mod AND the ROW folder, unless we kept asking the question. 3. There's 25,000 members here, all with different configurations and blended with a few hundred other mods. Each set of questions I see, are all related to different specifics, and are all very legitimate. Leo does a great job at handling peoples questions with a smile. if you can't handle it without getting "annoyed", than stay out of it and let him do it. And although you will take this badly and respond with hostility, that's actually just meant as friendly advice. ![]() Cheers.
