Now...I run SLI 8x AA and AF at 8x, no gamma AA correction....vert sync on....

Lowering AA and AF gets me to MAYBE 10 FPS...I refuse to disable them as image quality suffers.

Well....stock ROW seafoam looks fantastic anyway so I'm not too disappointed about the situation, I just can't understand the extra large slowdown. :hmm:
First remove the old sea foam stuff and see if the problem still exists. I am running lesser cards than you and do not have a slow down. Duel 8500's factory over clocked and I have 4x on AA and AF
Yeah...That was one of the first things I tried, Leo. I removed the ROW Texture mod and then loaded the Hi Rez Foam....
Ran a saved game...got the slow down. So I figured I'd start a new career...same result.

I guess this mod just don't like me!

Like I said...I'm more than happy with the stock ROW foam.... so i'll be fine.
I just wanted to inform you that there maybe some compatibility problems and issues for some, like me.

Cheers!

I just don't understand it because I let JSGME over write what I was using didn;t even change the files out first and still it run's great so there is something going on on your end I am not seeing on my end.

Especialy when I slow down my PC and load it up to simulate other PC conditions the drop was not that significant.

I did have a bad download once from a file sent to me by l3th4l and had to have him re upload it again and then download and it was fixed.

So I will download the seafoam and try it out that way and see if there is a problem.

Nope down loaded it just like you guys would went over the files to make sure they matched then applied it with JSGME and started up the game and got the exact same results so there is nothing wrong with the download.

I have 22 programs plus the internet running in the background and a seperate game on another monitor plus SHIV running and can still run the sea foam so the problem is on your end. The lowest FPS hit was 10 with all of that going on in the background and that was when a lightning strike happend.

Just alittle enduser report! So far, I love what I see. Enabled the highend reflections with no noticable slowdowns. Got myself into a pretty good gale in the Coral Sea, with partial clouds and 15mps winds. The effects are stunning! The seafoam is awesome! This is my current campaign that I just started. No combat yet.

Tried the Borneo Convoy single mission so I could torpedo a couple of ships to test the fire texture issue some people are haveing. I managed to fire off one fish at a medium freighter befor I was pinged and attacked by the escorts. The fish struck amidship causing a rageing fire to erupt. I am happy to report that the fire textures on this end look stunning! No apparent problems as of yet! I'm running an ATI X1650 pro graphics card useing the Cat7.8 drivers.

The only glitch I could see so far, is the same one several people reported in regards to the displaced shipsmoke. When visually tracking a target the smoke behaves normaly. If you pan away from the target, then pan back, you'll see new smoke generating from the stack, but also a plume of smoke from the ships prior position. Not a biggie. Overall I love this mod. Hats off to all involved, and keep up the awesome work

I have a new camera file in my hands right now I am checking out which may solve the smoke problem checking it out and if it is good to go will post it lator on.

Also a new particles and materials file with more fire work and smoke work fine tuned due to observations you all have made and given reports of in the posts.

Should be out late tonight early tomarrow.

Thanks for the help guys in making this a better mod with more observations.

Not a problem Leo. One question though. I didn't enable the camera mod that came with the package. Will I be able to use your new camera smoke fix you're working on without enableing that camera, or must that be enabled first?

Is due to the camera setting's from what I understand so without the camera mod you will not have that fix.

or a doubled up file in the main directory.

The fix is there for the clouds and they work with the wind like they are supose to.

Anyways I am off to bed but tomarrow new files will be posted at the bottom of the main thread.
They will replace the camera mod / fire smoke and oil slik part of the mod / and a new zone's file
that add's all the new effect's to the ships in the game. Also new sky and reflection work.

So watch for the new downloads.

i meant that if you've made a backup or if you have another version of those files except the one that came with the mod, even if it is renamed to something else, you should remove those *other* versions/backups.

i've edited the original post to make this clearer

Suuure!

Of course I didn't misunderstood
But it is god that You've clarified it.

Again thanks for help.

Default Installing new file releases for a existing mod

I allways install new MODs when in the office (not middle on patrol).

But is this the same procedure for installing new files releases for this mod or can i , without problem, install them when on patrol ?
I allways use JSGME .

Downloadet ROW_SEA_FOAM_09_24_07 and therefore i ask this question because i'm not sure .:hmm:

I think you may get away with enableing the highres seafoam without haveing to be in base. I think it just changes a texture, not something that changes overall gameplay. Don't take my word though, wait for Leo or someone else with more experience to give a definite answer.
