Any suggestions, folks? Thanks in advance.

If your positive you have a fresh installation and hve deleted the SH3 folder in C/MyDocs there are residual files somewhere on your computer.

Uninstall using the game disc...ensure the SH3 folder in C/MyDocs is deleted...run a registry clean, then reinstall as per the instructions on the GWX website (click on my sig).

Welcome aboard and enjoy the GWXperience

Welcome aboard.

Can I hazard a guess? Is this a disc based version of SH3 that is already patched to 1.4b, Starforce Free and does not require the disc to run?

I also assume that you have not added JSGME or SH3 Commander to the default SH3 Program Folder. The GWX 3.0 installer has some specific tests that it runs and if it finds certain files/folders within the program directory it will return a 'Modded' result.

TBH, if this is the GOLD Version of SH3 you're not the first to say that the GWX Installer fails.

Answer the above questions. Then I might have another test you can run to see what's causing the conflict. I can't port it here as it would detrimental to many peoples install procedures.

EDIT - A bump for Jim's suggestion (sorry I run 40 posts per page so I don't know if yours wil carry over).

That didn't help. Uninstalled the game with revo unistaller most detailed mode, cleaning any registy leftovers, deleted the SH3 folder from my documents manually, but still no luck.
Could this be my copy of the game that is already modded somehow? The game is a discount 2008 release.
Am I stuck with stock SHIII and no GWX candy? Any ideas?

.
Hey mate,

1. Yep, this is starforce-free, already patched to 1.4 (not sure if this is "b"), and does not require a disc to run.

2. Did not add JSGME or SH3 Commander.

Yay! Sucesfully got GWX to run like a charm on Vista with resolution fix to 1680'1050!

I love everything about it!

BUT! On my first patrol, going back to my harbour, the costal defences start firing upon me!
I´ve been looking into the manual but cant find anything, do I somehow have to report my arrival or something?

You have not sunk any German shipping by accident in the last 24 hours have you?
