1GB RAM ATI (whoops, I don't now the details of my GFX card, I still have to arrive at home tomorrow morning) But I don't really care for the small details... I would like to understand the main bottleneck for everybody ...? ***edit** "depending on" is not very satisfactory for what my question had in mind...., sorry ![]() I would like to achieve a priority checklist for everybody like: If you want to make your PC more GWX2.0 enjoyable... do this: 1)... 2).. 3)... I think this would be nice for everybody ... ![]()

![]() ![]() YES! Get more RAM is what I understood (implicit) so far... but that is a good statement for me. Like I edited my last post, I would like to achieve a little checklist for everybody: "what should I get to have more GWX-fun?" "Cheap, compared to " is another very good statement, as we are all weekend warriors and not professionals who can buy what they like.... ![]() (I once learned what the german army is spending per simulator to get a driver familar with a Leopard 2 tank, so he is not crushing any village to rubble, that he is passing though)

@U-49
I went from IGB of ram to 3GB of ram and it helped with SH3 performance. My wife let me upgrade my video card from a 128 to a 256mb card for my birthday and it greatly improved the graphics. The ram was cheaper than the card. ![]()

Downloaded GWX 2.0 without any problems whatsoever. A wonderful labour of love from you fellows and I congratulate you all (apart from Mrs. Moscowexile who has become a subsim widow!)
I was expecting great problems in getting the thing up and running similar to those that I experienced with the first GWX, but everything went like a dream. I am rather saddened, however by the replacement of several German "marching songs" by US 1940s hits; most of all, I cannot understand the decision to delete "Horst Wesel". Why has this been done? Is it because of a desire to be as historically accurate as possible? I do realise that it has been illegal to sing "Horst Wesel" in Germany since the end of WWII, that it was the NASDP anthem, that not all submariners were party members, and that the repeated playing of propagandistic music may not have gone down too well with many of the crew, especially after inevitable defeat was becoming clear to all; I am also aware that despite National Socialist censure of "degenerate" American music, the fact was that US big band and jazz music was still listened to and enjoyed by combatants on both sides during the Battle of the Atlantic and during the campaigns in North Africa and Western Europe, though possibly not by those of the Soviet Union and almost certainly not by those of the Japanese Empire. Nevertheless, I do believe that "marching songs" and "Horst Wesel" would have been played on board German U-Boote up to, say, 1941. Anyway, no problem: I'll put some some old German "Schläger" into the gramophone file myself. Once again, thanks a lot for a great job well done. |

I was wondering if its possible to pick up ships in water under 7 meters. I was reading Neal's Submarine almanac and one story told they would partially submerge the U-boat to detect ships. Does this work also for SH3? I know in high waves you can get a signal on the odd day.. Heres some shots below,
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...alledshot2.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...alledshot1.jpg Well it looks good but does it work? Also with the ship partially submerged is it more difficult for the enemy to see you? |

I recall seeing several test ran, and running with decks awash does indeed reduce detection ranges...as for improving sonar...don't know mate
