This decision was taken based on the fine line of legality of including SH4 content within a large freeware mod package.

However, there are no doubt individual modders out there that will develop these kind of ports for GWX soon after 1.04's release.
Thanks for the reply, I can accept the legality issue but also hope those modders porting visual environment features from SHIV to SHIII will provide NYGM and GWX ready versions.

Fingers crossed.....

That's a very complicated subject. For a modder to make versions for all supermods out there (NYGM, GWX, etc.) would require countless hours of sifting through the files figuring out if this was changed, if that changed, etc. Not saying it can't be done but the time required to do such a thing is immense. It's best to stick with a solid foundation from Ubisoft (SH3 patch 1.4b) and base visual mods from there. Then as bugs or errors are reported with use in supermods you make the necessary corrections to ensure compatibility with a given supermod releasing new versions of the mod based on said supermod. Not the most elegant solution but the most time conscious wise one.

Hi peeps. I've never been sure whether or not GWX questions are supposed to be posted in this thread or in new threads but I thought I'd try this one and see - if it shouldn't be posted here, let me know ffr and apologies in advance.

I like to use SH3 Commander with GWX so that I can take advantage of the combined skin pack, but that's the only feature I really want to use... is there a way to disable all of the "hidden" SH3 Commander features such as thermal layers?

Thanks!
OLC

Actually, it seems that the devs dont really bother to try and stop the portings, not atleast here. I remember back when I was playing Operation Flashpoint and Kegetys wanted to make winter map of the new one that came with Resistance add-on, the idea was shot down rather quickly by the devs.

One question:

I`ve heard the XIV U-boat-type will be part of GWX 1.04.

What about adding the types XXIII, XXVIIB (Seehund) and the other
midget-subs Biber, Molch, and Hecht?

In contrast to the XXI-type all of them took active part in the last
days of WWII with some succsessful results. Especially XXIII and XXVIIB
were quite sucsessful.

What do you think about?

Can you post me an Emailadress that I may contact the WX-developers?

In October 1944 also a new Flotilia could be added: The K-Verband vor migget
subs.

Thanks,

Christian

Welcome aboard chripsch!

Trust me, there's tons of stuff we would like to add, but you guys would be waiting for 1.04 still in 2015. :rotfl:

Most of us are active here in SubSim, so if you have questions, you can ask them here.

Welcome to Subsim Christian.

To answer your questions:

Content for the upcoming final release of GWX has been locked. However, I can confirm that we have added the Type XIV resupply U-boat and the XXIII. Both of these are AI subs. They will not be useable by the player as there are no proper, functional interiors for them.

The same is true of the Allied AI subs we have added and the Adua Class as well.

Regarding midget subs, those are not on the radar for us. Sorry mate.

Modifications to the player used flotillas have been stretched as far as we can safely stretch them.

We are working on an AI U-boat that we have caused to dive and resurface independantly. However, problems remain and we cannot guarantee its inclusion at this point. Being a rather revolutionary discovery, this element was allowed into the stable as an exception after GWX version 1.04 developmental content was locked.

For all other speculations on elements included in GWX... Well, you'll just have to wait and see. Our lips are sealed for now.

Regarding version number...

I wonder why such big update as forthcoming GWX 1.04 only changes the last digit in its version number.

1.03 -> 1.04 means minor update, IMO. It would be much better to call it "GWX 1.1", or even "GWX 2.0".

Any thoughts?

It's what is inside the code that matters not how it is named When you see the new GWX you will agree as well I'm sure

Great to hear you try to include the discovery (Privateer's idea, right?) about the submerging and surfacing AI boats. Since content has been locked for weeks now, I was afraid this feature won't make it into GWX 1.04. Keep it up. I'll stay patient
