Kind or not, you deserve it. Those are very good pictures. The skin with the 'canning' on the bow helps too.

Thank's Steve, you're kind also. The skin is Anzacmicks' Weathered Type VII, my favorite and I think a work of art. It looks really good up close. Kudos Mr. Anzacmick!

![]() Anzacmicks' skin looks like it was made from the stock skin with even more weather-beating added. What environment is it that you use? It looks very close to what I have been trying to achieve in the homebrew one I keep tinkering with. Maybe I won't have to tinker anymore. Mine below...doesn't look quite as good. ![]()

Thanks Kafka, another kind person. Not sure what you mean by environment. I play on a two year old HP lap top and a cheap one at that. In order to get those screen shots I had to crank the performance way down and the quality to the max on the video card. I made no other alterations. I'm not a modder or a Photoshop guy. Wish I was.
I think yours looks great. I love the rust at the top of the conning tower, very realistic. I think that the work you modders do is unbelievable. Keep up the great work. ![]()

I just wanted to know because I am having a little difficulty trying to get the colors right when the skies are overcast and I wanted to compare the color settings with mine. Quote:
I normally use one of Fubar's for the VIIC and one of evan82's for the VIIB. Those are still awfully darn fine screenshots for a laptop, almost like a painting for a book.

Hi Kafka. I realized a while later what you meant by environment. I'm old and slow. I'm using the GWX 16k atmosphere. I started using it just recently and would not go back now. So much better I think, especially the clouds and the sun.
Funny, I never realized there was that much rust on the stock skin, but I haven't used one in a long time. There are so many good mod skins available it's hard to decide. There's still a lot I'd like to try. Thanks again for the comments, it's very encouraging. ![]()

Thank you both!
I used Photoshop CS5 and Googled for some textures. I converted the image to black and white, added some noise and then used layer masks with two of the old paper textures I downloaded. I'm happy to post some more detailed instructions if you like. Mike ![]() |
