Hi everyone , i played SH3 game years ago, considering to play it again.
It is on steam, the question is can i mod a game that i buys on steam ?

If i remember correctly the best bod is grey wolves , is that still around ?

I have SH5 but i dont find it as imersive as i did with SH3. Is SH5 worth a play ?

Please be patient with me ... getting back its always harder ...

I am using the game over steam myself and every mod works. Yes GWX 3.0 is still the best mod in my opinion. But there are alot more great mods which you can add to GWX 3.0.

This is a very good guide on how to install GWX with Steam.



I would recommend only using GWX 3.0 for now to get back into the game. After you played some time you should also add the h.sie fixes.

Greetings Jmack.

All of my SHIII patrol time is on Windows 10 with Steam:
-Over 500 hours on basic SHIII
-Several hundred hours on SHIII w/ GWX3
-A few weeks now on SHIII w/NYGM Tonnage War

All stable and good.

Note: I went to the trouble of getting a plain vanillia disk of Windows 10.

If one gets Windows 10 with a new computer from a big-box store that has all the garbage on it (trial software that bothers you etc.) Run decraptifier to nuke Win 10 to an acceptable level.

just tried this way ... everything is good untill try do start HSIE ... it says no she.exe is found on that folder ...

well ... i still am not able to enjoy this, i figured that my anti virus was deleting the sh3.exe, dont know why. Disabled the Anti virus, the game starts
and then when i try to launch a campaing it crashes when its almost loaded.
I think it is a graphis issue. Anyone with similar problem ?

If you don't manage to get this working, I suggest getting a cheap of copy of SH3 DVD from Amazon, eBay or somewhere like that.

I had problems with Steam SH3 (GWX3 installed OK, but LSH3 wouldn't install) so I gave up on Steam and ordered a disc version in good condition for less than the price of a beer. It's worth it!

I got this version, which installs SH3 1.4b (i.e. no patch needed) and NO Starforce!

That happens on my end whenever I try to run a campaign with additional mods which do not necessarily work well together. If you are trying to run a save game of your campaign where you are on patrol make sure that you never save when submerged, closer than 50 km to any coast/land masses or with any contacts in sight. If you save anyway you will most likely break the save game. I save all the time when I am on patrol to ensure that at least one of the save games works!

conclusion:
Game crashes shortly before finishing, being almost loaded when I run extra mods which do not work well either with the supermod or with each other or when I deal with a corrupt save game in which case I simply keep trying to load one of the save games which I made to ensure that at least one save works!

enhancing graphics via nvidia control panel can also cause your game to crash when you do not know what you are doing!

i cant seem to get the time compression to go faster then 4, even though no ships or planes in thearea. in sh4 boxed game, it would go into the thousands. ideas? thanks

well, when you are using sh3 commander:



you can edit almost every aspect of TC! Like you see in the picture, even events like 'When near land' have an impact on your TC speed.
