Great, Beery's here! Good to hear you're doing well
![]() Sorry guys, I'm still buried under a lot of work here. I promised to help out with some of the updates, but I can't even find time to install SHIV at the moment... And yea, don't worry about them games. I played them since a young age, and I'm still ok. I think ![]() |

So--if I read this correctly--my last batch torpedos is CCIP's fault? I owe you a cold one!

Just wanted to confirm, RFB is listed here as a 1.4 compatible mod -
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=125815 Is this current version of RFB compatible on it's own with the 1.4 patch? Thanks. |

Go to this thread
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=125529 RFB stock is a stand alone version that doesn't need any other mod to work with 1.4, but the campaign experience is immensely better if you add the Run Silent Run Deep mod on top of it. RFB for ROW is modified to be compatible with ROW.

Swdw, think it is time to let the other RFB thread go? I can edit your original post with a link to the original work if you would like. Looking after two threads on the same matter can get nuts for you after a while. Let me know.

Many thanks for the replies. I think i've got it sussed out now.
I was wondering why I couldn't see the latest version of RFB in my JSGME. It's because vista 64bit uses 2 sets of program files and RFB for 1.4 extracts into the 64bit set of program files by default, not the set of folders where SH4 was actually installed. Just thought i'd mention it incase anyone else using vista 64bit runs into the same problem. Once it's directed to the correct directory it shows up fine. |

I don't want to re-open an old argument here, but I've noticed that with RFB for ROW installed my gun can fire every 6 seconds. I know Beery was hard-over on a much longer reload time. Although I'm not fond of Beery's lethargic firing rate, I also don't like the rapid-fire capability my subs currently have.
Previously, there were options for 12-second and longer reloads. Any way to get these back? ![]() |

This info is kept in the Guns.sim file. Beery was quiet stubborn about this even with mounting evidence to the contrary. I made changes to the SH3 file. SH4 looks to be the same thing - will post it later.

The only thing I was 'stubborn' about when it came to RFB was that any part of the simulation had to be based on ACTUAL combat reports if such reports were available. In the case of gun reload rates those reports are available and not a single one shows a reload rate faster than 22 seconds per round. Anything faster is fantasy, and fantasy is not simulation. This is the last time I will speak on this subject in this thread. I'm tired of defending a realistic rate of fire against those who insist on turning a simulation into a fantasy.

"The Battle of the Atlantic" by Andrew Williams, p.74 excerpt from Otto Kretschmer U-99 log of 2 August 1940 06.24-06.30 (six minutes) "Thirty shots at 2500m with gun, aiming at the ship [Alexia, steamer, 8016 tons] that is now sending radio signals requesting the presence of destroyers. Approximately 15-20 shots on target, most of which are into the waterline of the ship and her engine room..." 360 seconds / 30 rounds = 1 shot every 12 seconds. I realize this is about Fleet boats, but, one would think gun crews of time period navies would be similar.

Beery,
If you think you have fought this battle with the cannon long enough let me know and I will lock the thread. Nice to see you are still lurking here! ![]()
