Go for it! I really like the RFB mod and would dearly like to see "play nice" with some of the other great mods available...

Glad to see you found WinMerge, it's a life-saver and really easy to use...

I might suggest making all the campaign related stuff a separate file (like TMs base vs graphics mods).

Meaning the UPCData/UPCCampaignData directory and Campaigns directory stuff.

It would allow anyone to drop a campaign on top. You could include the Sea and Roster folders in there, too.

then you have a RFB version X.X Stock Campaign mod, and readme says not to bother with turning it on if you use another campaign.

ARRRGH . . . got some testers rounded up via PM, was going to post the files for the update I was working on after dinner last night. Sat at the computer and it's locked. Reboot and HD not seen.

Thought it was the HD, got another one today and nope- it's the SATA controller on the motherboard. Systems only been running for about 3 weeks, but we had 2 power bumps yesterday and this started after the 2nd bump.

Anyway, at least the files were backed up on an external HD . Have to check and make sure the latest changes were in the BU before giving them to the testers.

Now I get to find out just how good ABit's RMA system is. Got a new UPS for when things get put back together. Was going to get one, just put it off a little too long

So anyway, will post more info on future RFB plans once Beery posts his message.

Great idea! Will start thinking about the different options for doing this. Thanks for the input.

Hi folks.

Just a quick note 'cos I have a MASSIVE headache. SWDW has my go-ahead to take over work on RFB. Actually I was surprised that he got questioned on it because I've always taken the stance that RFB is a community mod and as such anyone has full liberty to work on it and improve it as long as they keep a note of the contributors in the readme file (and preferably also in the game credits file if they remember to do so).

Anyway, I'd like to see RFB (in whatever form) taken over by the community and improved upon. SWDW has taken up the challenge so hopefully we'll see more and better mods in SH4's future. The more mods we get, the more choice we get, and that has to be a good thing.

Hey Beery! We have not seen you in a while and thought it better to ask than just take. I think SWDW is on to making a very large mod type package. You have contributed to the community quite a bit and should be respectfully asked to use your mod for other things. Thanks man!

Yeah, I appreciate the sentiment. I'm glad work is still being done to improve the game. I wish I hadn't burned out so soon. One day I'll have to re-install the game and get playing once more.

We miss ya Beery! I'm a longtime favorite of RFB. SWDW I think I recieved your PM asking if I used RFB and needing testers for your project. I'm sorry if I didn't reply but between work and a BIG home project, I didn't, and still don't have the time. But believe me, I'm all for your efforts! I would ask only one thing. In my current install, my main mods (on top of RFB) are: Oak Groove's Highres Instruments, LBO, and ROW ( wich I believe uses LBO, as well as NSM).

I'm sure everyone would agree, that these are "must have" mods. If you're going to make RFB into a BIG all inclusive mod, please give us the options for these. Thanks, and good luck with the project

Run Silent, Run Deep
The Campaign
(Version 111 Real Fleet Boat 1.31 Compatible)

This version of RSRDC is 100% compatable with Real Fleet Boat 1.31

Installation / Compatibility

RSRDC (RFB Compatible) is designed to install over the top of Real Fleet Boat 1.31 using JSGME, hand installation is not recommended. You will need to start a new career after installation and old save games will not be compatible with RSRDC. Do not attempt to install this version of RSRDC on any version of SH4 other than RFB 1.31

The changes to RSRDC were to support compatibility with RFB 1.31

AWESOME - been wondering what I might have to do to be able to use RSRD with RFB 1.31 (been seeing great things about RSRD), and bingo! - here it's been done for me

Just one question - I'm running the swdw-updated version of RFB 1.31 to test it out - will this version of RSRD work on top of that RFB version or only over the "stock" RFB 1.31?

WOO HOOOO!!!!

Thanks lurker.

Funny to see how things are coming together for RFB. I've been out of commision computerwise since OCt 22nd. Between a HD controller failure on my new MB, the post office misplacing the package, and ABit moving their entire facility, it took until yesterday to get the board back.

I figured I might be able to limp along on my old machine with a video and CPU upgrade, but ran into problems there. Was able to upgrade the processor and MB off ebay for only $54 instead of $75 for just the processor, but a mislabeled memory stick from my old system caused all kinds of problems.

So, I finally get back up and running with BOTH machines, and you post this on the same day. It's been a good day.

Again- thank you for doing this.

I need to get a couple more changes into RFB and we may have a minor fixit release for Thanksgiving.

We've made no changes to the campaign settings in RFB. We were going to pull out some stuff and make it a seperate instal so you could use RSRD, but lurker took care of that issue. Since the campaign files are all the same, then RSRD should run with the updated file

That's good news - but another question - in testing the SWDW update to RFB1.31, I've been using Tater's IJN DC mod that goes with his Improved Campaign Layers (ICL) mod (and using the ICL mod as well) - if I try to use this RSRD with RFB1.31, I assume that I'll have to remove Tater's ICL mod, and then the version of the DC mod won't be the right one - so should I use the "stock" version of Tater's DC mod on top of RFB/RSRD, or just skip the DC mod all together? (or is there a DC mod version that works with RSRD - I'm getting sooooo confused here )
