Reason I ask is that with my RFB/ILC install, I'm getting oddly premature patrol orders (when I start a career on Dec 1, 1941) - stuff like inserting an agent in Manila or deploying to Luzon Straits to engage "enemy" shipping before the war has started ![]()

Tater ILC and RSRDC are "NOT" compatible. You try to mix and matches these two mods your going to have "MAJOR" problems. Here the recommended install order. RFB131, swdw-updated version of RFB 1.31, then RSRDC |

Your last statement intrigues me though - I have been assuming that the SWDW version was an updated version that included RFB 1.31, and not that it needed to be run on top of (in addition to) the original RFB 1.31 - are you sure you need to activate RFB 1.31 plus the SWDW update, instead of just the SWDW version?

Actually lurker, the update that panther hercules is running is a "test version" .Tater's DC mod is included but as a seperate folder, so either way it'll work PH

Since I'm using RSRD for RFB, I guess I'll post this here rather than the RSRD thread - anyway, I noted that you had skirted the "premature patrol orders" issue with RSRD by simply having every patrol start after the war has started (I know it says you start December 6th, but by the time you actually report to duty it's already the 7th, the "we're at war" video plays), and so all your mission orders make sense. Not all that much point to starting a week before the outbreak of hostilities, so that solution works OK with me.
However, is there some sort of logic built into the RSRD campaign such that it gives you a new patrol objective every time you radio in a status report? As you can see, I've been at sea about 8 or 9 days, and I've been inundated with patrol orders: ![]() As far as I can tell/remember, it really has been the case that every time I radio in a status report, I get another order to go somewhere else and do something else. Kinda makes me wish for something a little simpler and more direct ("Be more aggressive!" comes to mind ![]() I suspect that in the early war days it probably wasn't uncommon to be getting a lot of changing orders, so maybe this is normal, but it seems pretty wierd. I do really like the actual order messages though - very much better than the ones I was getting before.

A few people have seen my posts on my hardware issues that halted development the last 3 weeks, or there would probably have been a public release this weekend. Being so new to SH4 I was worried about making changes that would mess things up, so wanted to have a set of testers before making it available to everyone. If you still want it, get it from the testing forum at http://forum.kickinbak.com Anyone downloading it, please post any issues there as I don't want to clutter this thread quite yet with bug reports.

When I try to install (via JSGME) the RFB 1.31 Mod, it lists about 20 files which are identified as having 'already' been modded by ROW or NSM. What should I do? Just ignore that 'warning'?

the remit of RFB is to make it more realistic even if this makes things easier in regards to AI right? does this apply to aircraft as well? patrol in early 42, clear sky at daytime, radar detects a single plane which i assume was jap as it was flyin of the east coast of borneo.
it flew back and forward within 4 k's but never changed course to attack me which was weird. was this just a one off pilot who was partially blind or what? |

Ok, now's when being a team leader can be unpleasant. There have been posts in the ROW thread dealing with RFB 1.31 and ROW.
Basically, problems with RFB 1.31 and ROW will be given one answer from this thread- switch to RFB for ROW. There's a reason that release is a seperate tree. Not switching is creating problems- both for the user and the modders. Problems with 1.31 or the upcoming stock release will gladly be answered, as long as you aren't using ROW with those releases. That's why you'll see 2 seperate RFB threads- this one and the RFB for ROW thread. Furthermore, I've asked Leo to tell people to change over to RFB for ROW who are using 1.31 before troubleshooting any issue in a ROW/RFB install. In fact, I asked him to tell people he won't support RFB 1.31 and ROW problems. If you go through the ROW thread, you'll see time is a very precious commodity for Leo, and we don't need to be wasting the time he has left. I apologize if this seems antagonistic, it's not meant to be. It is meant to smooth things out for both the user and modders. But you should know I have no problem with getting militant about saving time for LEO. If you appreciate his work, you should feel the same way.

No problem swdw. Perhaps you should copy and past the first post by Beery into your new thread that is stickied. Eventually this thread will go by the way side and I will unsticky the thread. Once done, your tree will start fresh on the new thread. Let me know if you would like me to set this up for you.
I did the same for Leo with LBO that was swallowed up by ROW that incorporated LBO. No sense in having to keep an eye on two threads answering the same questions. Since you have incorporated three major mods perhaps this is the way to go with this thread. Let me know.
