The first time I discovered that people actually patrolled in real time I was both shocked and amazed.
That's ridiculous, what losers I thought... until

until today, where I still feel the same way

I played 2 missions in 1xTC The first one lasted 4 weeks of game time and ~6 weeks of my time. The first 2 night I couldn't sleep at all because I had the volume on loud, the 3rd night I was glad the volume was on loud when I was woken up by the watch reporting 2 aircraft.
If I was still a student I would do it again.
I even grew a beard

Should there be a 1x player thread?

Yes.

You nutjubs are in a league of your own, and are, in my opinion, the only ones qualified to discuss any sense of the word, "realistic".

After all it is a u boat simulator not a game 1x will give you a bigger piece of what it might of been like in reality the total dulldrums to sheer terror of course 600 other things are still missin like gettin throw around in weather/sea spray and the nasty smell after the crew had beans for dinner

I found that 1xTC lacked realism in many ways. It would have been much better if I had a "crew" so I didnt have to be on watch 24x7.
But its a good way to make time to read all those books I was supposed to read for my course.

... and I thought I was the only one that dreamed of doing 1x patrols.

I'm getting a baby monitor so I can go wash my dishes / clean house and still listen to the crew incase of emergency.

Now, if I can only figure out how to hit the "C" button remotely... I can run down the hallway to the control room and scare the hell out of my dogs!

1x sailing rocks!

...and yes I am barking mad!

It's just not right ya know...

The Captain should NOT have to crank in the galley and do field day. Didn't you learn to DELEGATE at the academy???

Get the Nubs to do the dishes...let the Non-Quals clean up, and do what a real submarine officer does best...play cribbage and "supervise"!

I love playing GWX at 1x. I want to get to my area and sink ships but I think getting there in other then 1x is like getting there in a jet sub. If I were not retired I would probably not love 1x as much. I have nothing to do but play GWX all day. Luck, lucky me. BY THE WAY HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU PUT THE SIM IN THE BACKGROUND. I run full screen and do not know hopw to back ground.
