Default Grey Wolves Mod versus IuB-any differences???

Hey everyone, Iīve been reading a lot about the Grey Wolves Supermod here - now my (probably silly) questions is: is there any difference between the GW-Mod and the "Improved U-Boat Mod" (IuB) which is also available somewhere on the internet.

Iīve been playing the IuB (1.04) for a while and itīs pretty cool apart from some crashes which Iīve learned to avoid. From what Iīve read in the readme GW and IuB seem to be pretty much the same - are they?

please reply, somebody, and donīt start railing at me if my qusetion has been answered elsewhere, I DID use the search tool and Iīve been away for quite a long time.

Cheers, AS

Not alot actually, both very similar - I was using IUB up until very recently when I switched to NYGM for bit, grey wolves is nice - gotta love that new main menu music and east enterence to scapa, but GW had too many ill side effects for me - I no longer could see anymore fog or rain (fog was missing) and my sun was all messed up or missing too - oh and new explosion sound effects = horrible. In short Theres not that much GW has that IUB doesnt. Both have advantages and disadvantages over each other.

Hopefully GWX will be better, its a shame just couple bugs messed up an otherwise fantastic mod. - (for me anyway, not everyone has these problems)
hey use Jonesoft generic mod enabler and you can check out both mods with out having to reinstall SH3.

Personally, i think i have tried all the supermods available; IuB, warace (think thats the name) battle of the mediterranean, Nygm and Gw + many single mods (excellent they too). The Grey wolves and NYGM are the only two thats still on my computer, and i use both extensively because i think they are the best (no disrespect.......) I think GWX will be a "combination" of all of these when its released, at least i hope so.
IIRC, IuB was a "difficult" mod for me, beeing a newbie at the time. But it sure was good!!!

Thanx for your answers - I must admit I m even more confused now. What do you mean "IuB was too difficult"? Is it more realistic than GW?

Is there any big "donīt miss it" advantage that GW has over IuB??? Or can I sleep deeply and safely in the night if I just stick to IuB???

I know the Mod-enabler helps, but it means an other 4 Gig or so on my already cramped harddrive... (all the backup files you know...)

Cheers, AS

Well, i guess GW would be difficult too , because i was a newbie back then. Its been a while since ive played IuB. Remember; the hardest mod nowadays, i think, is the NYGM because of its realism. But you can change the realism in GW using SH3 commander and the stock realism changer inside the game to make it harder or less hard.

Put simply, GW has more content and is a purpose built mod. While both are a compilation of mods, Grey Wolves has many more unique features. This will be even more the case with GWX, which is no longer just a mod-bundle, but a comprehensive SH3 overhaul and expansion.

When itīs ready.

Sorry, couldnt resist either. :rotfl:

@Ju_88: Those bugs are not caused by GW. Did you use SH3CMDR at that time? You propably forgot to roll it back. Anyways, not caused by the GW.
