Default Save and load

Simple question:

How do you load a saved game?? I saved mid-mission (real life gets in the way!) and later tried to load it. I ended up back at the beginning of the mission, so clearly I'd done something wrong. Trouble is I don't know what!

Pardon the simple questions, but I've only just upgraded my PC to something which can run SHIII so I'm going through learning pains!

I have commander installed, if that helps/makes a difference.

You went to saved carrer, chose the last save that was marked in mission and you wound up at the start of the mission, docked in harbour? Hmm, strange...

When you saved where you close to any ports? I know that screw up the save. Some people also have difficulties with saves done when submerged - where you surfaced when you saved?

Aha! I think I was submerged at the time.....must explain it. The career stat said I was 'at sea on mission' so I figured it was correct, but then it started me back at base.....NOT HAPPY!

If you're in a career you can save whether you're submerged or surfaced. It makes no difference. Just save as I explained and load the last Save when you return to whre you left off.

Sometimes I exit and save, put in something like convoy, submerged just as a reminder of what was happening when I stopped and saved. Every now and then it will say 'game not saved' or something like that. If you are not careful you can click the OK button thinging it was saved when in reality it was not. I have done that twice. It sucked as I had a lot of tonnage or had a great convoy position etc. Watch for this when saving.

When you want to save during a patrol click "Save and Exit". Then type in something that will help you remember where you are or what you're doing. I usually type in the Grid Number or Cnvy BE68 if I'm about to or I am attacking a convoy there. Then click Exit. You should be all set next time you load your career to contiinue where you left off.
