(I still did get 24€ extra ca$h, but lost the map & manual...)

Well that is a shame. Did you not try GW mod for the game? I all but gave up on it but GW mod put some new life back in it! I have not stopped playing since I got it. I even stopped messing with IL2 and I never thought that would happen. I cannot wait for SH4!

Yes. I've used GW ever since it came out. Kudos to the great modders who made it, and Kpt.Lehmann, yes, I'm finished with the potatoes you asked me to peel...

IL2...

Yes, I am a very frequent user of IL2, have always been and will always be I guess. I have a virtual squadron, and am enjoying it very much. I suppose I'm just made for more "action-packed" games.:hmm:

Was excessive playing involved?

You might find that after a break/rest for a while you want to come back to SH3. I find that tends to happen with me (with other games).

Whatever you do, enjoy

does the GW mod add that much life to the game? I just bought SHIII last night and can't stop playing it. I can't imagine it being any better. What does the GW mod add that makes it worth installing it? I have read about all the features but can someone give me some personal thoughts?

It adds, among other things:
  • A better recognition manual.
  • Great new sounds.
  • Many more cities.
  • "Living" ports full of ships.
  • Historical events.
  • More vessels and aircraft.
  • Much more realism, including a new, more real damage model.
  • The Red Cross (yipee:p!).
  • Better graphics, including a mod that increases view distance.
  • Many, many, many more radio messages.
There are two things to consider, though:
  1. Is your computer up to it? Grey Wolves needs a good deal of memory to run.
  2. Do you want a highly realistic experience? If not, Grey Wolves may not be for you.

thats why I wasn't too sure about downloading it yet. I am still playing at 29% realism. Just starting out but I am not after the realism yet But the living ports and cities sounds cool though.

Incorrect.

The "realism level" is variable basd on player settings.

A player can attain a very high level of realism (or not) based on his / her choices in "realism settings."

There is far far more to GW than sound and graphics.

Yeh! I just instled GW today and like I posted somewhere before! WOW! Can't describe the difference! I now I playing at 49% realism (the only things I havne't runed on is Manual Targeting, No weapons officer and No camera or any sort outside the normal confines of the u-boat). I mus say that for someone who has played with 0% realism all the time, the pass is hard and cruel, but will make me a more experienced U-boat Kaleun.

Back on topic.

Sorry to see you leave Brewster Pilot. Any lost Kaleun is a hard thing to comprehend and to replace. Hopes that you'll come back (SH3 being very cheap to buy these days) or we'll see you in SH4.

But that doesn't mean you can't keep posting
