Default Game crashing on crew management...

Hi to all,

I have a pretty weird problem with the game: the game crashes (XP back to desktop) after using the crew-management screen in the direct vicinity of a convoy.
I know it sounds crazy, but I had this in two different missions (career-mode). What happens is that I'm sneaking up on a convoy (90m deep, silent running), dodging the Destroyers and then I get the warning 'not enough crew in electrical engines compartiment' when I want to change speed. I then switch to the crew/damage control screen and when I try to replace/reorder the crew in the electrical engine department the game crashes to desktop.
I can restart the game immediately, continue my career but loading the latest save only brings me back to the vicinity of the convoy with the same crew-fatique sit again.
I do have some mods installed (like the 'das boot' crew and some graphical stuff) but still play the game 'standard' with the latest patch.
Does any on you have a lead for me before I start reinstalling the game?

Thx,

Jeti

:hmm: I had the same problem after screwing around in mid patrol (save) and was toying with the SH3cmdr Crew function. when I loaded up it CTD when I pressed one of the pre-set Crew positions (Submerge attack for example)
maybe you should try the save when ur back in port(the ''In base, before patrol''. that would do fine, and mostly its just a small loss but the convoy will appear again if you do about the same route

Experienced the same thing. In a convoi, trying to adjust speed and changing crew assignments caused my game to crash after loading it with SHIII Commander and looking (not altering) in the crew function of the Commander. Reloaded the last saved file again without SHIII Commander and it worked fine, again.

BTW, can anyone post me the link to the "Das Boot" crew mod? I can't find a link in this forum nor via google.

I'm running patched vanilla and it CTD's almost every patrol.. After sinking a ship I usually save the game, plot a new patrol route & then click on the cruise surface icon to get the crew in their correct watch stations.. as soon as I click it (30% of the time), the game freezes and crashes.. Then I have to restart, replot and assign crewmen individually... I'll patrol for about 5 minutes & then click surface cruise & it's usually ok at that point..

I would never play the game if I had to go through all that.

Guten Tag Herr Russ,

you have to unrar the file (rar files are compressed files like zips), and copy the files you find inside to the designated target. There's an explanatory file inside the archive which helps you.

I believe that crew buttons were a problem from the start. I hit one once when I purchased the game 2 years ago. CTD. I found that there was a bug with these buttons. I do not mess with them anymore. I move my crew individually. It takes some time but hey, I can introduce myself as I drag their butts to another part of the ship!

I've found the same thing as well. If I drag the crew around manually all is well, but if I click the buttons I often crash the game. Don't use the buttons and you'll be fine. Also don't forget that you can click on a compartment and then right click on crew to move them there, which is much faster than dragging each individually.

This bug CTD to desktop upon use of crew management "macro" buttons has been there since release. Its still there. Well documented and discussed.

Just dont use them. Yea its a bit of micro management but hey you probably have a few "days" to kill anyhow.

Yeah, drag you crew around like I do. They usually scream a lot as I drag them from room to room. They really scream if I drag them to the diesel compartment..really hot and noisy in there. I never had a problem dragging them around. I long since forgot about these buttons because of the bug.
