IIRC Uboat warace has plenty of historical actions - sure the ones you mentioned are from that one
Most of the bigger mods have some

GW has a couple
GWX will have *********** censored********* :rotfl:

To be honest most historic actions require a hell of a lot of scripting for something that may never be seen and some things just dont work in the SH3 engine

To script Dunkirk I should imagine would be a nightmare and a real FPS killer with all those ships\aircraft together at once
Same for DDay

I must admit though to see it would be so cool

Pray tell Big Boy..thus far I have only come across a Task Force in one of the Norwegian Fjiords...what other 'goodies' do I have to look forward to?

yes of obviously, but I was thinking, since GW seems to be the perfect mod, why should it not have one or two Historical events in it? But as you said, it would be a pain in the neck to script it.

Yes, it has those; unfortunately Dunkirk is kind of small and D-Day is off Cherbourg, more than 50 miles away from where the landings actually took place.

Is it at the historical dates then? (6th June 1944 for example)

Yes its a trade off Steve
Too many units and the FPS takes a massive hit and becomes unplayable\watchable
IIRC there were over a 1000 ships used at Dunkirk plus aircraft
Given the narrow area of channel involved even ships scripted in port either side would be rendered so the lag would tremendous if not impossible

Smaller actions are possible but even then at the limitations of the game engine
For example
The Bismark timeline - the actual route of the Bismark to Gotenhafen was thru the Kiel canal but if you run the route that way the ships go aground when close to the player uboat as the AI collision routines arent that clever
So as much as I would love to encounter the Bismark and tugs steaming down the canal towards me it wouldnt look good if they ground themselves out and start taking damage

I could corrrect that but that wouln´t change any aspects of playing!
And.. what about 50 miles? you really can´t simulate everything 100% like in reality.

Can't it just be tuned down more than a little bit?

Like, instead of a million troop transports, five million merchants, and ten million fishing ships evacuating the troops, you've got something like twenty ships of mixed types?

I can just picture that.

"Der Sirene, Izzue #59: Bizzmarck grounded in Der Kiel Kanal following evazzive action - zzeamann Bernard on U-60 to fazze Das Court-Martial for Der Grosse neglect of Der Watch Duty".
OK, this German accent-caricaturing is getting a bit old...

Well you can reduce it which is what Hansolo has done
But there will always be some who want more and totally historical

Yes the Bismark wasnt pretty :rotfl:

Hm...yeah, it would be very hard to make historical events work.......but what about things like big taskforces heading for a real target happen? Like before Operation Torch, german intelligence reported that a HUGE convoy was travelling through Gibraltar. What if the player could waiting there in time for......

You know what, I think I will. I just had to re-install the game, so I'll install your campaign instead of Grey Wolves.
