Default Full screen nav map?

Hi
Is it possible to make the nav map 1024x768 (full screen like the attack map) for use with the sliding console? Getting rid of the Leer.tga file and its entries in menu_1024_768.ini doesn't help, changing map resolution in Maps.cfg and resizing the graphic file StrTactMap.tga doesn't do much either. The map seems to display well but there is always this grey area at the bottom of the screen, exactly 1024x112 pixels which I can't get rid of.

This is how it looks.

Any ideas?

That's why the Leer.tga is there, to my knowledge the navmap size is set.
Have never tried changing to full screen, may give it a go later but tied up for now.
Cheers.

Map size can be customized via maps.cfg file - if you look closely at the picture in my previous post you'll see that the map actually displays in 1024x768 with part of it covered by the grey area on the bottom which prevents from using full screen.

So far I've managed to expand the map vertically by about 30 pixels to make better use of the avaible area. I've also made the map tools bar, chronometer and compass rose hide a bit further.

Default map:

30 pixels ain't much but it's just to prove that nav map size can be changed. Below's a comparison picture.

If you can expand it by 30 pixels what would it look like full ? would the objects be distorted badly ? that may be the payoff, keeping the aspect ratio means having to use the leer, if we could get wide screen modes then full screen would be ok, otherwise to keep aspect with full vertical would mean loss of data left & right (horizontal). However if you can put up a full (vertical) screen map view, would be interesting to see!

But there is no distortion. Look at the grid on the map - it's vertical spacing hasn't changed. The map itself (all the geodata) remains the same as it's much bigger - I only expanded the window through which you see the map so that can I see slightly more of it.

In your original thread you said "Is it possible to make the nav map 1024x768", if you can move it all the way down and all works ok then you have answered your own question, all you would have to do then is remove the leer & produce as your own mod! Unless there is some problem you haven't mentioned, In the menu_1024_768.ini file just do a search for "Leer" and remove the whole block.
Reece.

PS. use the dark "Bkgr.tga" SH3 original (this is the one I always use) not the supplied transparent one!

I never tried altering the "StrTactMap.tga" image size before so I had no idea as to whether it would cover the gray area or not, I did just try & seems to have no effect (except possably the 30 mm). So a little more research is required, but I will be tied up for a few days before I could even think of taking a closer look, if your still stuck by then I will certainly try to help.
Cheers.

Hi, I have had a very close look/attemp at trying to get rid of the 1024x112 area at the bottom but have come to the conclusion that it must be hard coded.
Changing the "StrTactMap.tga" image size has no real effect, changing the following in "Maps.cfg" makes the proper change:

Resolution=1024,656 ;can change to 768 for full screen.
MajorSqrs=4,2.4 ;can change this to position the RAW map on the StrTactMap.
however the grey area is still there!

The Leer is only there to cover the grey with something more appropriate with the panel sliding away.
In the following image I could not find the "Scale" or "Border" image files though they may be in the raw files.

I have searched right through the menu_1024_768.ini for reference to the 1024x112 area with no luck & no images in the entire SH3 folders for this (including colour) image or the scale/border images!
Hopefully someone reading this might have some suggestions.
Sorry I can't be of any more assistance.
Cheers.

Hard coded... that's what I thought. I've also haven't found anything. Actually I've stopped searching already. Thanks for your time.
