If you depart from Galveston, it'll have Dubya's father and his country band in their classic cowboy outfits. In other words, don't start from Galveston.

Galveston Harbour:

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galveston

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing
While I watch the cannons flashing
I clean my gun and dream of Galveston

I still see her standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run

Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying
Before I dry the tears she's crying

Before I watch your sea birds flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston

Glenn Campbell or Glenn Milller. Take your pick.

I was thinking some Hawaiian music might be a good idea for the submarine's sound system too.

BTW is it me or has this thread gone off the rails?

Not fond of jazz at all, though a bit of swing or big band is nice enough. We better start digging up some ol' Glenn Miller for our sub crews in the Pacific. Moonlight Serenade, Penn 6-500, Chatanooga Choo Choo - my U-48 crew don't mind a bit of that.

Though I prefer the German music of the 30s and some traditional Irish.

On my boat only German military marches are allowed. It doesn`t matter if it serves the US Navy or die Kriegsmarine. Imagine a US boat playing "U-boot Lied"

I have a huge collection of period Jazz, swing and Big band from the US, France, Belgium, Britain and even Germany (the Infamous Charlie and His orchestra.)

A Bit of Tommy Dorsey, followed by Woody Herman and then some Django with Spike Jones to finish should fill the bill nicely on those long patrols.

You know, if we start now, we could probably compile one hell'uva playlist by the time 1 Qtr 2007 rolls around! Problem is, how could we share it easily and legally?:hmm:
