Default Air attacks

We know most of u-boote have been sunk by planes; but in the game, radars work so well, it is impossible to be in surprise with an air attack. It's always the same way: radar signal, then dive, then surface with smile, then radar signal, then dive, etc ....
So, my question: how so many sub have been sunk with such good radars ?

or perhaps radars in the game work to much well;

Yes radars ingame do give you an edge
BUT
Not all aircraft ingame are equipped with radar so you will get the odd meeting you didnt expect

Or equiped with newer versions of radar, which signals could not be detected by
u-boats radar warning system I believe..

In fact, radar worked so well in RL, that the U-Boat became rather useless late in the war.

That not explain why so much u-boote already equiped with these radars warning had been sunk by aircraft.

Perhaps malfunctions ? So, it will be good to included these malfunctions in the game

Hello,
not all boats were fitted with a radar warning device, and almost never in time with the latest one detecting the most recent allied radar systems.
A lot of the warning devices failed now and then, they were added to a U-boat that had not been initially designed to carry the devices.
At the end of the war some U-boats did have several devices that would detect the full spread of radar wavelengths, but at that time they could hardly have surfaced without hearing one - allied ships and planes were almost everywhere then.
The "electronic" war (which is wrong there were only electrics, or, at least tubes, no transistors) is a chapter of its own.
But if you read the GWX manual chapter dealing with the antennas and detectors you will get an idea

Greetings,
Catfish

yes, i understand. And the game also must stay "playable". At least, i prefere to have to often dive and not to often die. Smile and thank you for replies.

I made a rework on radar warning and also airplane rockest 2months ago but dropped it after left the GWX team. The idea - and works very well - is put a lot of imprecision on the RWR equipaments just adding a random setting to them . So, sometimes you will not detect the plane and, even if you detect, always at different distances, sometimes, again too near the uboat.

The rockets fix was made with Sergbuto help where all the rockets are firing individually, all at first pass as in reallife. They are so much danger now and are very eye candy attack too.

I can return to this mod soon if I have the time.

I agree the radar warning system in SH3 is way too acurate and reliable compared to the real mcCoy, but i am led to understand that there is no way to randomise it. - or randomise weather an aircaft has its radar on or off - A shame.
Its probably more realistic (but rock hard) to play without it all together -

One way to randomize things is to create new sensors.
then assign as needed by useing SH3 Commander.

You should all remember a few major points of GW's
"Guidelines" if you will.

It must run on a set system spec and must not,
above ALL,
break things.
It must also run,
as is,
with no additional programs.

To start createing seperate sensors and assigning them?
Let alone test this configuration???
You'd not even have 2.0!!

In theory, it's a valid approach.
But theory has bitten me on the arse more then I care to remember!!

Is GWX 2.1 perfect?
As far as the GW Team is concerned?
We feel it's as perfect as we care to make it.

There comes a time when any Team moves on.
Be it to a newer version or just to sail into oblivion.
That time has come for Us.

No regrets, no remorse.
Many of us have worked with,
and still work with,
those who wish to stay behind and continue the SH3 modding story.

And as always,
We remain ready to answer as many questions and calls for
advise as possible.

Our Roots are in SH3,
Our branches reach into SH4.

Mod away Mates!
SALUTE!

You can randomise the eqp loadouts through SH3commander
Much the same as randomised loading screens or music at quayside

Never took the time to master that randomised file thing
Tis a powerful tool
