Ok, now first I am the guy who STUPIDLY erased a campaign that was near the end of '44. So I decided to start my campaign using a IXC boat. A real pig compared to the VII but it bristles with torps. Drumbeat is the game and I'm afoot. I've sunk 6 ships so far and now when I try to load a saved game it is missing. The menu says I can load it but there is nothing there to load. So I guess the first question I have is has this happened to others? Secondly, where in this dangnabit game do the saved games folders appear. Maybe I can check and see what's up from there.

They are in the MY Documents SH3 folder. Look there for a folder with the name of your career captain.
And yes disappearing saves do occur. There was a thread just a couple of weeks ago. |

There's a lot of weird things happening with save games...they dissapear, they get corrupted with no apparent reason ,sometimes when you load your sub is destroyed with no reason, sometimes you can't move and other things such as these...

I've never seen a career disappear except for one thing. If you try to add a mod while on a patrol it will corrupt the career. You can only add or delete a mod while in port before your next patrol. Also make sure you have patch1.4 installed with a clean SHIII install before adding any mods. And use the JSGME mod installer, as it will install most mods the proper way.
Also make sure you do a backup of your SHIII folder in C Drive/My Documents/Program Files/Ubisoft, and your SHIII Commander folder too ever so often. Or wherever they are located on your drive. I recently screwed the pooch and lost my career but was able to get it back by using my backup to overwrite the files. It works fine and will save a bunch of work and headaches. Not to mention the frustration of losing all your hard earned kills.

I had a similar problem, my saves disappearing.
But I managed to get em back by changing my captains name in the saved game folder. Hope this works for you too ![]() |
