Hi guys! Since I installed GW i experience a sound bug when submerging. When the flooding tanks sound kicks in and after three of four seconds, there´s an annoying looping sound which lasts for some time that totally ruins the feeling. I am under the impression that this bug is related to my REALTEK in board sound card with High definition audio drivers ,as I recall some time ago a thread in which there was a CTD related to this. I would appreciate any help about how to solve this problem.THNX in advance.

i have on-board sound (realtek ac97 alc850 -- its an asus a8n-e mobo) and I have had a few minor problems with sound as well--and looping sounds like you mention. but right now i have no sound problems so let me try to remember everything i have done to this point--maybe one of these will work for you:
1-I am using GW1.1a Heavily modded though w/sh3cmdr 2.6 first thing that i think helped was i got 1gb corsair ram... next I made sure that the time compression settings were ok with SH3 cmdr--check readme and docs for specific values particularly for sound in the Time compress options window (in SH3cmdr). here is when I noticed the sound problems stopped: some mini mod told me to edited the main.cfg under the sound values, I put: Music=No , and the General Volume setting I put at 150, and the rest at 100. ****Make sure you rollback SH3cmdr BEFORE you do this if you're using it**** then start SH3 and go into settings, audio/sound, and make sure music is selected to off (if you don't want music), and set the other volumes to your liking and then click APPLY (even if you have done this before at some point). this should officially set your sound levels if you have messed with it before and maybe solve some issues, it definitely did for me... lastly I changed a lot of the sound files themselves in the data/sound folder...you might want to investigate whichever sounds you think are looping and make sure they are not corrupt.....or you could try replacing those sounds with custom ones from a sound pack. anyways like i said no problems here and using onboard sound(though i think the game would be faster with a sound card). so hopefully one of these might help your prob. |
