Ok, since this is really begining to annoy me
![]() ![]() Started a new career yesterday with SHCmdr and when i started of in port my entire crew was unable to mutter even the simplest phrase. After this i went back to an old campaign and once again no word was spoken. Even in the training/single missions the same happens... I have not changed a single thing within the game or on my computer and i have been playing it, tweaked to my likings, without this problems for ages.... This problem just popped up and i have no clue on how it started or even how to begin repairing it ![]() Has someone else experienced this too or perhaps someone who has more knowledge about these sounds and all related workings with them in SHIII can lend a hand ? If uninstalling ![]() ![]()

Interesting little tidbit from the SH3 Commander FAQ file:
Q: Since using SH3 Commander I can no longer hear speech or most sound effects. What sound files does SH3 Commander overwrite? A: SH3 Commander does not overwrite any game sound files. This problem will occur if you set the "Character animations", "Sound effects" and/or "Particle rendering" Time Compression events to 1. Reset each event back to the default value and try again (a Rollback is not sufficient to reset these settings). If your problem persists, scrutinise any new mods that you have installed since you last had full sound. There is also a Help file included with Commander. All kinds of interesting answers to questions in there. ![]() zz |

Thanks for your reply & how i wish this could solve my problem but no...
I have all sound effects, just no speech. I did however check up on your suggestion but to no avail. As mentioned before, i have not changed anything in my pc or game set-up. This **** problem just stuck up it's ugly head and i can't seem to get mine around it ![]() I'm really lost here. Am i facing some corrupt file thingy ? Has anyone else experiences this ?

I regularly have this problem. Usually after a few alt+tab's...or any other application in the background triyn' to use the audio card. This is just something i observed on my own skin. When this happens...I reinstall everything....
![]() If anyone esle has a solution besides my ugly reinstalling everything...I would also appreciate it. |

Try turning the Hardware Acceleration down on your soundcard and see whether that helps.

I appreciate your reply JScones, unfortunately i have had to play the game with your soundcard suggestion since day 1 so this is not a solution to my problem.
Working with Krugers problem i've had no luck either. As mentioned before, i've played SHIII (for the past 2 months btw) without changing/modding anything. System wise i have the similar situation. It just leaves me without any clue on what could've caused this... ![]() I'm not looking forward to reinstalling. Over the long time i had this game i took bits and pieces from various mods to make something i'm really happy with. If possible i'd like to avoid this as i probably don't know anymore which bits i took out of which mod.

I had a similar problem - had no voices but other sounds
I think mine happened either when I changed voices to German or changed time compression thru SH3commander ![]() Try removing SH3 commander first ( after rolling back )- if that doesnt work then try the following Change the name of your SH3 install from SHIII to something different ( lets say SHIII Old )then delete the SH3 folder in my documents - best you move your current career out first Then insert your SH3 DVD\CD and choose repair option When its all installed - replace your career into the new SH3 folder in my documents Reinstall SH3 commander and point it to your original SHIII install ( SHIII Old ) This way you will still have all your mods installed and its the way I solved mine Plus you get the benefit of having a new install of SHIII for you to patch and then mod as you like or at least have access to original files if you should ever need them ![]() |

![]() Quote:
Accordingly, a rollback or uninstalling/reinstalling SH3Cmdr will NOT fix it. The settings in main.cfg need to be changed back to default again, either manually or via SH3Cmdr. But it sounds like Einzelganger has investigated this possibility with no luck. I'm certain there is a thread or two here from others with a similar problem, fixed by some other solution - perhaps try a search and see if that helps. I just can't remember off the top of my head. I know most of it relates to onboard sound cards. |

Well guys, I want to thank those of you who have responded. It was much appreciated.
But unfortunately after several days of chasing ideas i haven't got a solution for my problem and it still boggles my mind how this just came up. Anyway, as i'm getting a bit nuts playing with a mute crew i suppose i'll soon be uninstalling ![]() Again my thanks to all of you.

Maybe this just a sign the crew wants to mutiny.
(bad joke i know but the theory is sound...ish)
