Default Not being able to control the two propellors individually

I'm being depthcharged. One explodes very close to my stern and destroyes both stern dive planes and rudders. What do I do ? I'm still able to change depth, but I'm not able to steer. In real life submarines are can use different RPM's in order to turn. Why is this not possible in SH3 ?

No, you can't do it in Silent Hunter III for some reason. Blame Ubisoft for rushing the game.

Rushing ? Why ? Maybe it was never planned to include that option.

Remember that including all options people demand would result SHIII being released in 2010 and costing 500$. And by that time the graphics would be so outdated that no one would buy it

I don't know, it just seems like such a basic option to me when I think of it.

And it'd be used as a training tool by the German Navy. No, wait...

It's a basic to ba able to control engines individually.. Even Enigma had this option.

I think those controls are basically used by people who watch external view and then need to make sharp turns to evade depth charges. Otherwise it would be pretty useless to use that feature in the Atlantic.

I think, but not sure, it was, if at all, mainly used to make tight turns in port.

At least one new problem would be seen with a possiblity to handel the maschines separately: While the boat is recharching its batteries it would be necessary to give some orders to the helm to keep the boat on the course. This would not be a problem in the boats with more than 2 engines, of course.

I don't play with stock water transparency...so I can't watch for those depthcharges. But still....I have no chance of escaping with my rudders destroyed. It really bothers me ... I could have steered with my propellors, and maybe gotten away.

If you can manage to evade the depth charging long enough that they move on...you can always surface and hit return to port....and pretend that you did have control over each engine and justify it that way........maybe......

Iap, that's exactly what i hope to do. Unfortunately the depth under my keel keeps diminishing...and soon I"ll reach the shore. Now I'm at 150 meters, I have another 40 meters below my keel, and 15 km to the coast of Ireland. I'm running at 2 knots straight ahead. I'm just west of Ireland and heading east.

Maybe they"ll leave me alone when my sub will eventually surface on the beach...Is there any possibility to hit "return to port" while I'm half the ship aground (and fortunately with my hull in one piece) ?

How about reverse? Get you away from the coast.

Are your propellors damaged? How is your battery charge level?

My proppellors are undamaged. Iap...I can go reverse. My batteries are 50% so in slow reverse I"ll probably make 1 knot. I'm on silent running now, but every time they launch I try to accelerate a bit in order to evade the charges. I'm afraid that going backwards will not offer me that little acceleration i need every time they launch. I realy love my VIIB...and wouldn't want to lose it
Can any of you guys come and torpedo those tribals and let Herr Kruger come to port to those nice nurses in skirts ?
