hi i just installed the grey wolves supermod and i think its wonderful but on the contact map when you see a ship its just says contact it doesnt say a tanker or a battleship you have to guess i want to know what im about to attack i sanke a 36000 battleship in lock ewe and i dont even know what kind of battleship i sank can u please help me with this thanks

You aren't supposed to know exactly what you want to attack in Grey Wolves. It's part of the realism. Turning on God's Eye mode might help you a little, as would pressing K to view the captain's log. The classes of ships sunk are recorded in the Captain's Log, so that may help.

what does the generic ship contact mod do?

It makes ship names generic. So instead of seeing the actual ship name, you simply see "contact". As spork542 said, it's part of the realism.
It's also an optional installation, so can only be installed if you physically selected it when installing GW1.1a (assuming you used the auto installer). You have two options: 1) Use the Recognition manual to help identify ships 2) Re-run the GW1.1a installer (assuming that you have not installed any mods subsequent to GW), ensuring that you do NOT select the "Generic ship contact names" option this time!
