About the Crew Cheers After Torpedo Hit?

:hmm: Look....if I were to transfer all the sound files from TGW11a's SOUND folder to a vanilla 1.4 version of SH3's SOUND folder ( removing all the original sound folders/files first).....would I get the crew cheer sound effect after a torpedo hit? (I am assumig of course that this specific sound file is in there somewhere...I'm guessing in among all those speech files)

Or....would I have to modify some other file(s) in order to assign it to play when a hit is scored on a valid target?

Any help appreciated...and of course...T.I.A.

Leave the original files there, just flatten them with the GW files, unless you don't like the GW cheers! If that's the case then you just have to replace the Ono_Cheers01.ogg & Ono_Cheers02.ogg files in each of the 9 speech folders with the original, hope this helps.

Yeah....I finally stumbled across the correct file.....and no... I do like the cheer effect ....I'm mostly wondering if simply moving it into the vanilla version alone is enough to "active" the effect or will I need to do more to have it play.

No, sh3 will simply play what ever file you have in there, I actually did what you are doing, just copied the original 2 files over the GW ones, however you probably should do it before starting a new patrol.
Cheers.

Just move the 2 files into all 9 speech folders and you should be good to go.

....as usual... nothing that should work did.... ....par for the course.

I tried doing it my way and then everyway suggested and the cheering effect simply refuses to play after the impact....I get the torpedo impact (in German) message and sound byte. .... the Cheering files play beautifully though through the CoolPlayer when selected.

I replaced all the original files with the GW files. No go.

Started fresh.

I tried rewriting over all the original files with the GW files. No go.
Started fresh.

I tried replacing only the Ono_Cheers01.ogg & Ono_Cheers02.ogg files. No go.

Oh well .....really not that big of a deal....

Try to copy PUMP.dat from data/Library GW files in your present Library folder, and then copy to all 9 speech directory Ono_Cheers01.ogg & Ono_Cheers02.ogg.

Many Thanks Poor Sailor....worked like a charm.

As I stated or at least hinted in my original post I was suspecting that just copying in the files alone was not enough....I was fairly certain there had to be an associated file that would be needed to make the sound file play at the correct time. I simply did not know which one it was.....sure glad you did!

If they had a saluting emoticon I would place it here....

Thanks for that poor sailor, you learn something new every day! Now I just have to figure out the role it plays in SH3!
Thanks, feel free to enlighten me some more.
