At MS we are playing with a girl from a maritime patrol unit (Atlantic II) and when I teach here how to make a TMA and compute the speed of the target using the TPK screen on submarine, she say me that the speed given by the game was wrong, in real life she use a simple formula to compute the speed and it always differ from the DW speed, for example a cargo was given to be @ 6knots by DW and she found 3.68knots, using her formula, the difference is big
![]() Do you know what is the formula use in DW to compute the speed? Nota : french acoustics crew on MPA and sonar specialist on subamrine follow the same course at the submariner school.

The problem with 'thumbrules' like that is that they are very general, and do not cover realities such as different screw constructions and sizes. Not all single 4-blade screw merchants are the same.
