I came across this Large Merchantman andas normal set up a perfect 90 degree shoot. Anyhow I wanted to follow the advise of Bdu, for realism, with 1 torp with a magnetic fuse under the ship and 8 seconds later 1 with contact fuse. Well tube 4 was malfunctioning so I decided to use the other 3. 1 would be magnetic and pass half a meter under the ship the other 2 would come 8 seconds later in a salvo spread aiming to contact 3 meters from the bottom. I used 2 instead of 1 in the second salvo in case 1st malfuntioned.
It started well 1st exploded under the ship just rear of the center. 8 secondes after the 1st had left the tube the 2nd salvo of contact only torps were launched and were dead on tract. Then nothing I went to the map to see they had passed right through the ship. Problem was I hadn't reset the torp depths for 9.5 meters (1st salvo) to 5 meters (2nd salvo) thus without magnetic fuses they missed! Well In my resulting rage I hastily shot off my rear torp, which of course missed! So I calmed, went wide to reload and realine when I noticed she was sinking so I surfaced and sped her up with the deck gun. So boys and girls always recheck you settings before fireing. This attack which was suppose to end in 3 hits resulted in 1 hit 3 wasted torps! Happy hunting and learn from others mistakes.

I always shoot 2 torps at a depth of 2 meters.
One in the front and one in the middle. Works all the time. ![]() On the smaller merchs. I usually only fire of a single torp. at 2 m. Aims for the bow. They flood pretty quickly. If the weather is good I take ´em out with the deckgun. You have to be carefull about those precious eals. ![]() /VV

Heh, I had that happen with a medium cargo. I thought the torpedo I'd fired had gone off too deep to do any damage, but when I came onto the bridge to check it, to my surprise I saw that she'd broken in half and was almost gone!
