No medals when docking at a different port?

My base is Wilhelmshaven (sp?). I've been on a patrol and docked to Trondheim to rearm. The log said I was promoted and that my crew earned medals and promotions. But I can't acces the place where you give out medals. I believe this is because thhis isn't my base port. I can't add anything to my boat either.
So I leave the port and after arriving to Wilhelmshaven there are no medals to be awarded... They're gone, waisted. And so are the promotions...
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong??

I think it is a bug. I recently tried this and was allowed to hand out medals and promotions. I didn't get to update my boat nor to choose my torpedo load out. When I started the patrol, my log was reset to zero tons for the trip.

However, the way I understood it from the forums, waht happened to me isn't right either. I thought my log wouldn't be reset and that I would be allowed to award medals and promotions only after I returned to my home base.

I think we both had a bug, mine just wans't so bad...

When docking at another port that your assigned one, it is not considered as an "end of patrol", just a rearm/refuel. Dock at Whilemshaven and you'll be able to upgrade etc...

There is a work around to this problem. When you dock at a different port, instead of going to the place where you usually hand out medals and promotions go to the "office" main menu and to the barracks. From there you can get to the medals and promotions screen.

Click on the file cabinet, only at non-assigned ports,to assign awards,no desk options available
