Default Is this part of my vacation to Houston?

AAHHH , Neal,
I found this in the news today:

Gang Members Kill Teen in Houston Park

By Associated Press

document.write(getElapsed("20060607T230343Z"));32 minutes agoUPDATED 9 MINUTES AGO
HOUSTON - About two dozen gang members armed with baseball bats and tire irons attacked a 14-year-old in a city park, and a teenage girl in the group stabbed him to death, police said.
"It was just mayhem," said Kevin McCarthy, who saw the attack Tuesday afternoon and called authorities. "They were just running all over the place."
Houston police Capt. Dwayne Ready said the gang members swarmed Gabriel Granillo and two other boys from both sides of the park around 2:45 p.m.
"The approach of the large gang, how the three were caught by surprise, the time of day, those kinds of issues indicate this wasn't just one of your random crimes of opportunity," Ready said.
They also slashed the tires and smashed the windshield of a vehicle apparently belonging to Granillo's friends, McCarthy said. Two males with the victim were taken in for questioning, police said.
No one had been arrested as of Wednesday.
Granillo, whom police said was affiliated with gangs, had recently left juvenile detention, relatives said. They said his father was in El Salvador and his mother was dead, and he had recently lived with his father's cousin.

What part of Houston was this in??? This wasn't at the Seawolf Park or the USS Texas park was it? Which type of weapon do I need for the trip: Shotgun or Kalashnikov?:hmm:

Shotgun, make sure it's legal length (be sure to check local regs. and I usually use birdshot for indoor defense), and BEAR-SPRAY if you have it (it's pepper spray strong enough to repel a bear.....it can possibly blind a human but who cares as long as you're not gonna be sued in court by the guy). Juries automatically think that handguns and "those evil black colored cop killing asssault rifles" in your posession at the time of an incident mean that you were the one using excessive force (no matter how much or little you resisted).

Well, if you are able to survive in Portland, Houston should pose no problems.

Car Missing After Suspected Gang Murder
Detectives Have Few Leads

PORTLAND -- Police are asking for help finding the car of a man killed in a suspected gang murder.
The body of 28-year-old Chai Taphom was found early Saturday in an alley near Northeast 111th Avenue and Davis Street.
He had several gunshot wounds, and police believe that it was an execution-style murder. Investigators are now trying to find Taphom's car, a 2005, two-door, silver Honda Civic with Oregon license plates 608 BYY. Police have few leads and ask that anyone with information call Detective Whattam at (503) 823-0696 or Detective Shipley at (503) 823-0865.

I mean, it doesn't sound like your police are much help:

Police Cruisers Collide Responding To Call
Officers Checked For Head Injuries

SEATTLE -- Two Seattle police cars responding to another officer's call for help collided with each other Tuesday morning at a downtown intersection.
It happened about 2:30 a.m. at Boren and Madison.
Both officers were taken to Harborview Medical Center to be checked for head injuries. The cars were seriously damaged. Spokeswoman Debra Brown says the officers were responding to the call that a King County sheriff's deputy was fighting with a drunken-driving suspect on Interstate 5.

You even have gun crime! :rotfl:

Man Puts Gun In Waistband, Shoots Self In Groin

Criminal Charges Possible

HOQUIAM, Wash. -- A Hoquiam man who accidentally shot himself in the groin could face charges of reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm within the city limits. Police responded to a report of shots fired Saturday night and found the 21-year-old man bleeding. He told officers he was upset by personal issues and had fired the gun in the air. While putting the 9 mm handgun back in his waistband it accidentally fired again.

You can't bring guns into Texas. But if your born here, they give you one

Heh, Houston and Portland are jokes compared to big bad NYC... Which really isn't so bad anymore. I even walked through 120th street on my way home from tennis the other day -- with my cellphone OUT -- and I didn't even get mugged!

Touche, Neal. You are a crafty one. I stay out of North Portland and East Portland...Frankly, I just stay out of the county Eugene isn't that great either. Along with the endless hordes of transients and pan-handlers, look what happen to a co-worker . One day he's here, the next day.... http://e-airs.org/inmateinformation/...irsnum=0721145

...arrested, at work, by the police.
