Pineapple in colesdlaw?????

Yuk!

I never make it right but there are 2 essential varieties: one based on a mayonaise dressing, the other on a vinegar/sugar dressing.

Look them up. That's what the Internet is for.

Hmmm.... maybe I should do the same.

There is no "right way" of making a coleslaw. A basic coleslaw contains white or red cabbage, everything else is purely a matter of taste. Some use vinegar and oil, some mayonnaise, some mayonnaise plus vinegar, some add mustard. My favorite coleslaw is made of white cabbage, vinegar, oil, sugar, salt, pepper and caraway seeds.

My favorite coleslaw is with cabbage that I shredded, and cole slaw dressing, that is it. No carrots or anything. The dressing is more of a vinegar based one. It's all preference as Gizzmoe said.

Yup. I second what Rockstar says, and I agree with you DeepSix. Can't forget about that Sweet Tea. How about adding White Beans, Deep Fried Catfish filets, and Huckleberry Cake.

People probably made the first coleslaw 500+ years ago, so it´s hard to say what the original recipe was. It likely hasn´t much in common with the coleslaw we eat today, except for the cabbage. If they had salt and wanted a sour taste they needed to slightly ferment it.

I guess the recipe that comes closest to the "original" coleslaw is the one I´ve posted, minus the oil, pepper and caraway seeds.
