Default How can I verify my torpedo runs?

I am currently making my way west through the English channel to get to my assigned patrol grid. I am in a Type IIA out of Wilhelmshaven. It is late 1939. I am using the Grey Wolves mod.
My first torpedo launch in my first patrol with GW was a lovely success, sinking a steamer in one go. Now, on my third patrol, I launched 3 eels against a large cargo vessel and - nothing. I thought perhaps my solution was bad, so I lined it up again and - nothing. I then decided it might be low-running ordinance, so I tried again, setting the depth well above the bottom of the keel. I also skipped the TDC, drawing within 600 meters and using point-and-shoot (I grew up with a rifle in my hands, so I'm really more comfortable with that, anyhow). Again, nothing happened. I tried twice more; there's no way I missed all those shots. I could even trace the wakes of the eels right to the target and at least two shots were perfect M.O.T.s. I suppose it's possibe that all three were duds , but I want to see if that's the case. I'm playing at 100% realism and need to know - is there a way to turn on the event camera in the middle of a patrol? I don't see it, but maybe I just don't know where to look.
Thanks, fellow Kapitans.

well, not in the middle of a patrol, but when u get back to port and go to the screen where you get your oders you can change the realism there, and turn event cam on.

Other than that, I don't think there is a a way to change it while out a sea. It may be possible to edit the save file and change it there, but I'm not sure if that is possible, and I defiantly am not the one to instruct you on it. Mabye one of the mod experts can help you.

A better solution would be to keep playing at 100% realism and turn 'god's eye mode' on. Go to the TDC view and track the path of the eels to the target. Of course, to see the ships represented on the TDC screen you need to be surfaced or have one of your periscopes raised so that you can see the ships. I believe you can still play at 100% and keep god's eye on.

MCU enabled makes it 88%.

Did the torpedoes hit at a 90 degree angle? Early torpedoes don't go off unless they hit "dead on". Also, if you're too close, they don't go off either.

It's nearly a perfect angle. I'm directly abeam of her. My distance is about 600 meters, and it only takes 300 for the eels to arm.

That's a great idea, Tonnage Ace. I'll give it a try this evening. Thanks!

I just checked, you can have everything checked(100%) and keep map contact updates on. it seems you CAN have your cake and eat it too :rotfl:
Turning the event camera on makes the realism 97% mind you, so keeping this on isn't a big deal if your still 'getting a feel' for SH3's quirks...

That's good news.
I didn't think I was still getting a feel for it; this is my second career and my forty-something-ish patrol. Just goes to show, there's always something new to learn.
