Default Karle's Navimap Table Mod Ver 1.1 * Updated*

Karle's Navimap Table Mod Ver 1.1

Changes since 1.0:

Mainly just changes to the font after a helpful comment from JonZ regarding the cleaness of the original typewriter font. I searched the net and found a 1940's era typewriter font, I then duplicated the font layer several times and applied various blur and smudge effects to individual parts of the data. My aim was to age the font without ruining the improved readibility of the mod. I hope I have achieved that.

I know it must be getting crazy when we start modding mods but what the hell, maybe someone will like this. I was looking at FLB sale U-999's wonderful Navimap Mod earlier today and the table charts which I believe are the work of FLB Minks. The originals were a great piece of work but I found them to be a little hard to read so I decided to have a go at re-doing them.

The mod is set up to be installed using JSGME Mod Enabler but as the Navimap Mod is now included with Grey Wolves and possibly other large mods in may be better to overwrite the 2 tga files in these mods (creating a backup of the originals, just in case) the 2 tga files in this mod normally reside in data/Menu/Gui/Layout folder and will only appear if you have Sale's Navimap mod installed as a standalone or as part of a larger Mod like Grey Wolves.

Credit for researching the data in the tables resides, I believe with FLB Minks, all I have done is tidy the data up a bit and redo the background. Anyhoo I hope some of you like this and find it useful. Thank again to FLB sale U-999 for making this mod in the first place

The Legal Mumbo Jumbo

This mod was created to be distributed freely to the Silent Hunter Community. If you wish to host it on another related site or include it in a compilation mod then please feel free to do so, (although a mention of my name would be appreciated).

It is not to be sold commercially. If you do so then you are a scumbag and I hope the fleas of a thousand camels nest in your armpits

Enjoy!!

ps any thoughts or suggestions for improvements would be appreciated you can pm my on the Subsim Forums -

Glad you like it Kamerad, of course I would be honoured to have the smallest involvement in the wonderful Grey Wolves Mod

I find the original one more historically correct, but I corrected the readability by simply pimp up the contrast of the blacks and whites.

Great work tho.

:hmm: is it historically incorrect to have columns of figures in a straight line?

it was the unevenness of the columns that bothered me more then the blurriness as well as a couple of typo's with the figures

Thanks - these charts are much more clearer to read!
As I use both charts often to calculate traveled distances of ships I did a sharpen-filter on the blurry original images, but your new ones are much better!

thanks a lot

That's what bothers me on this mod, the types are too clean for a WW2 typewriter that it so obvious it was typed in Photoshop or the paint program you used. Every things looks so cut and pasted , but each of their own like you said :|\ Not that the original was perfect, it just needed a clearer texture with more bolded types.

Sorry to beign mean on this, I just try to give artistic directions like I do in RL

You know, looking at it again, I think you are right, JonZ I have found a couple of WWII era fonts and I'm going to try a few things. I do appreciate constructive critique and was not in the least upset by your comments.

@ ADukes thanks for the correction mate I'll sort that out as well
