For the first time, I felt to ask what mean some of the ship terminologies
What mean DD, BB, DC and the other 2 letters thing we always talk about. I know that DD mean somethings related to Destroyes, BB battleship or battlecruiser, DC for Depth Charger... ![]() |

DD= Destroyer (2 letters needed, so double D)
BB= Battleship (same as above) BC= Battlecruiser DC= depth charge FF= frigate CV= carrier CVE= carrier escort CVF= fleet carrier those are the ones i know of.

CVL = Light Carrier
CA= Heavy Cruiser CL=Light Cruiser DE=Destroyer Escort K=Corvette SS=Submarine There's a whole slew of different letter codes for everything from minelayers to cargo ships but those are the major ones.

Those hull abbreviations date back to well before WW2. Still in use today....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_classification_symbol They've kind of become the favored shorthand for warship types in many naval games as well. ![]()
