Default Question for the REAL bubbleheads

In playing with the various sound mods we have at our disposal I was wondering if you can actually hear a torpedo/missile launch from compartments other than the torpedo room? Like the Con for example? And if you can does "reality" sound more like the "stock" version of DW or the Blackmuzzle/Finitless sound mod?

Spoken to a royal navy sonar officer who was on HMS Onyx and if he dipped frequency low enough he could hear what was going on in the conn.

so yes you should hear missile torpedo launch as well as CM's launching

Yes, you can hear it in the forward compartments and FEEL it throught the whole ship when you shoot. At least on American subs you can.

As for the sound. It is totally different for reasons I can not get into.

What sound would an air ram make...?

Would it be completely isolated from the environmental system or would such a charge on the HP air cause pressure changes in the crew compartment...?

I guess I'll never know...

I do know the human vestibular system is pretty damn sensitive to sudden pressure fluxations...

Air has to go somewhere when it is vented. That amount of air vented does in fact make a change in air pressure, but it is not much when you start dealing with the internal volumn of air the pressure hull has.

Thanks for the reply Bubblehead! So would you stick with the stock sounds in DW or the Mod?

I use the following Mods on all version of DW on my computer: Bill's corrected HeloDipping Doctrine Mod, Kegerty's small fonts mod, and all of finiteless' stand alone sounds mods both ambient and interface (the ones you download and install individually), and of course the LWAMI Mod.

You should have had the experiance of sleeping on top of the ejection pump on a 637 class! I always had a rack with some valve or another in it.

My first rack was right in forward crews, port side, bottom right in front of the head. That put me right over the port side tubes. One hell of a way to wake up the first time they shot a water slug. Of course, being a nuke I never went to sub school and I had NO idea what the heck had happened.

I traded to after crews berthing after that.

Our berthing was between the missile tubes.
