Default Mines

Does anyone here use mines? I tried them out by making a simple P3/Akula mission and dropped 3 along his course and none of them activated.
I used 2000lb mines at his depth and he passed within 50 yds of one and it didn't explode!

I\'m having trouble with the radar, sir.
What\'s wrong with it?
I\'ve lost the bleeps, I\'ve lost the sweeps, and I\'ve lost the creeps.

Come up on an enemy ship (LCACs or patrol boats are my favourite targets for this, mainly due to minimal AA armament) from directly behind and drop them so they land directly ahead of them. Boom!

Other than that, they have to be within some 100-150 m of the target, and that includes in the vertical. In the deep setting, it usually just doesn't go deep enough.

There is a mission where you're supposed to be using mainly minedropping, but whatever you do it tends not to be enough, as the ships just slip between the mines. To fly the opposite of their future position/course and drop might just do it, but there's the matter of accuracy....
