How well done are the details in this game! I looked up on a starry night, and even the constellations were up there in they're proper positions. Most noticably was the Big Dipper and then the North Star. Nice to know if I lose my compass, maybe I can make it home at night.

I always like games that do put in the real stars. The best game I know of was Operation:FlashPoint, one of the first team and realisitc FPSs. In one mission you escaped out from the enemy's prison, you dont have anything, no gun, no map, no compass, nothing. The only thing you know is that home is southward, and you have only the stars to look at for guidance. So you end up running, looking at the sky, trying to evade enemy groups. That was one of the best game-moments I had, I was so taken by that I had to learn a new way to find my way around.
But I guess if the sub would lose its compass, map, etc; then it would just be a floating iron coffin. |

Wish the stars would twinkle though. Plus I would love to see the Milky Way and the Northern Lights. Guess there is no end of detail you can possibly add.

Not to mention the moon slowly sinking at dusk and below, in its reflection in the water, the merchant you crippled an hour ago slowly sinking too!

If you liked that mission and like Operation Flashpoint, check some of the missions i have done and watch the vids for upcoming projects.
I am currently working on a campaign for Operation Market-Garden for the Invasion 1944 mod team, the first phases' campaign is going to feature the Dropzones and the Oosterbeek defense by the 1st and 3rd battalions of the British 1st Airborne Division. You can even have a looky look at the campaign trailer here: Hi Res - http://www.inv44.com/screens/2006_Ja...eekTrailer.zip Lo Res - http://www.inv44.com/screens/2006_Ja...ekTrailera.zip Enjoy ![]()

OFP is probably my favorite game ever. So many possibilitys with it. Can't wait for the falklands mod and especially Invasion 1944 (Winters, I'm jealous!) to come out.

I'm a physics student, with my major objective being astronomy. First time i saw a night sky in SH3 i thought "hmmm let's see if it's accurate enough".
It was, but i was not yet satisfied,so i thought "let's see if they really do move the way they should around the north pole"...i crank up time compression while sitting on the bridge, lo and behold the stars did infact move ![]() Now if they had the correct colours as well, with a couple of nebulae tossed in, it would be awesome. It's too much but that's the nature of the simulator gamer, always asking for more accuracy. This reminds me of a quote i saw once in the IL-2 forums (my favorite WWII flight sim): "One day the devs will reach such a level of detail that you will be able to see dead bodies of civilians in the wreckage while bombing Stalingrad, and gamers will complain that the demographics are wrong!" :rotfl: |

The game with the best sky is "Orbiter simulator" a free space simulator :rotfl: .
it have about 100.000 stars in his database, and a very accurate sky and planets movement. http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/gallery.html
