Default Problem with saved games

I have already read a couple of posts about saved game problems but none seem to have a solution that works for me.

My problem is that I have two profiles (two captains) each with its own saved games. One of them is still working fine, but the other one shows up with a BLANK list of saved games, even though the saved games are present under the corresponding folder (My documents/SHIII/dat/cfg/carrers/blahblahblah).

As far as I can tell, the problem seems to be that the game is unable to distinguish the profiles. The one that wont load list the U-boat number and captain name of the OTHER profile after choosing the "Load carrer" option in SHIII (you know, the screen that's supposed to list your saved games).

Allready deleted the tmp files but that doesn't help... I seemed like it was going to work once, for the game listed the proper saved games, but then it crashed when I tried to load one of them.

Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Edit the Careers and Patrols files in folder \My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\yourCareerName.

Make sure the last entries in all files have the following statements set to zero:

OffDead=0
PODead=0
SeamenDead=0

Also make sure that the last entry's "Finished=" statement is set to "false".

No joy

The "OffDead=0, PODead=0, SeamenDead=0 " part was correct on the files, but the "Finished" section was set to true. Changed it and now I can see the saved game files but they crash when I load them... well, the last one crashes, the others I havent tried yet because that would erase the rest of them...

:hmm: I think I'll make a back up and try it.

Anyway, there is one thing that caught my eye: on the "carreers" file my subtype is listed as 2, but on the "carreers_0" my subtype is listed as -1... Is this how it's supposed to be?

Also, any ideas on what caused the glitch with the saved files in the first place? I mean, should I avoid using things like SH3 commander, or is the game particularly unstable when you have several ongoing campaigns under diferent profiles or what?

Well, the previous saved games do work, only the last one doesn't seem to work. Darn, I can renounce to the 3 hours of lost time from the last saved game, but is this going to happen regularly with the game?

Go to the file that has your captains name that is giving you the problem. Rename it. Your files will be there. Presto.
