I always complained about sound propagation model in 1.00. 1.03 beta made it better. 1.03 gives even stronger layer effects.
I was testing yesterday with two enemy boomers, one above and one below the layer. From 5 miles with convergence zone settings I could always pick only one at the time, based on my depth, both on active and passive sonar. Really strong effects. When you get closer, you start to pick cross-layer signals as expected. All around it's pretty hard to guess sound propagation behaviour, which is IMHO correct. You just don't know how the sonar will read signals. You have to try different depths and see. Surface duct seems to give a little weaker effects, it would need more testing. Good work Sonalyst ! |
