Default How do you create Emblems?

Been trying to create my own TGA Emblem for the last horu unsuccessfually; are there any special parameters that must
be met?

The emblems I make all end up looking like blank white sheets on the sides of my conning tower....

To elaborate further: they're all sized the same way; equal dimensions in both height and width and I've tried saving both as compressed and uncompressed TGAs.

g'day mate,

You say you.ve made it a TGA file so that's not the problem, have you checked the size of the emblem :hmm: , I had the same problem, but once it was the correct size & TGA then all was well

Figured it out; I was editing my career.cfg files and the files were pointing to the wrong directory; so the game wasn't finding the TGA.

1) Use photoshop or program that creates tga (targa files)
2) create image size to be 64x64 pixels
3) design and yada yada in the 64x64 area you created
4) make sure the background or area surrounding the emblem is black there are a few other colors that makes the background become transparent in game (these default colors you will see ships hull instead of that color, I know black is one the game uses there is a brown, a dirty orange, and a couple of others the game uses) the best thing to do is download other people's emblems and open them up in a targa viewer (I use Fast Stone Image Viewer available at www.downloads.com) or photoshop itself. If in photoshop you can pull samples from the color with your eye dropper tool to see what other people ar eusing for colors to make background transparent. You can also see what makes a clear image in game and how to keep it simple. if you want something in your emblem to be black make it an off color like a very very dark blue it will look black in game.
5) when you say "wow, this is beautiful" click "file">>>>"save as" "Targa (TGA, VDA, ICB, VST) option (this is what is in photoshop) after you click on save as you will see 3 options you can save file in 16, 24, and 32 bits/pixel there is also a checkbox for compress RLE but, leave that unchecked. I usually select 24 but, just depends what you want as resolution. But, select one of the resoulutions either 24 or 32. If a color doesn't look right just try another. Keep your image simple like you would a gif. The more complex a image like a photo or alot of details or lines the more fuzzy it looks in the graphical engine. Its hard to explain this effect but it has to do with the 3-d environment and the complex details of the image. You can still experiment and see what it looks like in game. I try to make mine look like like paint as much as possible.
6) drop newly created file into driveletter:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Emblems\SubEmbl ems
7) when u are in upgrade equipment section of sub in game select the sub emblem you want to use you should see your newly added emblems...select one and then apply. You should see it appear on the model up top. then u are all ready to go.

Hi!

I have found that you can make the emblem about any size you want and it will squish to fit the space on the submarine's surface, but you will get distortions unless the image is pretty much square.
