I haven't used it just yet, but it's my understanding that you have to be within 30km before the option comes up.

I have the milk cow mod as part of Rubini's HT. I am still in 1941, but the map at that time shows Spanish ports with supply ships (used prior to the milk cow u-boats). They appear by name in blue text in the green (neutral) Spanish port. I have used them successfully to resupply. If you are in 1942, according to the readme for the milk cow mod you should see the supply ship Corrientes in the Canarias Islands (shown to be 'active' 05/01/1941 - 06/05/1943). If you can see that ship in blue on the map, I'd say you are OK.

Does anybody know how to solve the problem that the destination grid changes to "Null" after being resupplied?

Go to your saving folder documents\sh3\data\cfg\careers\"captain name" and edit Patrols_0.cfg after docking at supply ship and before starting from there. Look for PatrolArea=NULL and change to something like BF13 (nice juicy place). Not even going to home port will automatically give you a destination grid for next new patrol, so you'll have to edit this manually! Personally, I can live with this, since it's just a small bug. If it's even a bug, someone is always complaing about their destination grid. But if there ain't any, you'll loose the renown for it, so...
