Default Need facts of game play, explained please

Situation:Orders to patrol CA54,Out of Lorient.Thought I would drop down to Vigo,Spain,Lat. & refuel.Seeing as how CA54,is US.coast area of Delaware Bay.Long trip, with no fuel to return, even @ one third.Question-does battery use fuel to recharge in game? I could cruse ahead slow submerged to extend my range.Question #2 Can I refuel at neutral port, with out ending patrol? How?I am modded w/IUB.It is May 10 1942,no U459 on sta.BC74,no U460 W Azores, besides stop for resupply, nulls patrol orders, thats OK,but how to get back to Lorient?Seems suicide mission.

9 knots is the most fuel efficient speed, two thirds is actually 10 or 11 kts. Click on the little button at the bottom left of the telegraph (speed thing) and you can select your own speed.

Well, if you are in recharge mode, one diesel will stop working a propeller and will charge the battery. This reduces speed. However, theres a glitch in the game so if you are stopped and in recharge mode, no diesels aren't using fuel but the batteries do recharge.

No, you can't refuel at neutral ports.

Also, you don't need to go back to base literally. Just exit the patrol while surfaced and with no enemies in sight. You will automatically be transported back to your home port. Not really realistic, but it makes your boring waiting time lower.

Seems kinda contradictory to game play logic by developers concept.any other ideas or helpful hints,I'am listening thanks

The 9 kts works. In a Type IXB I can go from Lorient to the US East Coast spend a couple of days submerged during the day recharge batteries at night and return on fumes.

Takes about 20 days to reach the US east cost. Im doing my 3rd patrol to the east coast now. Ive found some intresting hunts here.

I think its DA96.. i dont remember exacly, but its a single merchant bottleneck off floridas east coast. You can just sit there, max the TC and wait for them. Another thing ive noticed is you dont have to have the diesal running to recharge the bats. At a dead stop ive recharged my batteries waiting in this grid. (totally unrealistic)

In the carrabean theres a port down there,( if using HT), damn bloody deepwater in that port. im not kidding you could be right at the docks and its 300 meters. Sub nets.... you just go UNDER them. I literally sat in that harbor at periscope depth on a shooting spree.
