Default Back Again and Feeling Like a Newbie.

Hello All,

After many months overseas on assignment and with no connection to the forum (& no SH3), I am now back in CONUS and ready to again dive headfirst into SH3.

My question is - what are the must have/nice to have and nice but not necessary mods to get. JSGME, SH3 Commander and the latest RuB I gather are must haves. What is IUB? Is it a RuB clone, add-on or enhancement? (Or am I completly off base). All feedback is greatly welcomed & appreciated.

Did ya post a big FIGMO on your door or above your cot before ya left?

Anyway, what mods to get depends on what kind of game your aiming it.

If you fall into the the realist "i wanna smell the diesal fumes" camp, then id grab the latest RUB.

Improved U Boat (IUB) is essentually a collection of mods that enhance the vanilla game without some of the more drastic gameplay changes that is seen in RUB. Its also a response to X1's software's piracy. (IE some nobody no name company decided to grab a collection of mods and make money off it, but thats a subject rehashed here too many times so i've already said too much about it).

Now if you just want improved gameplay over the vanilla game i would suggest:

- Improved convoys
- Harbor traffic (check for rubini's latest version in the mod forum)
- Bordinstrumente 1.0 ( http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=46429 )
This rocks and is a must have.

Those 3 make alot of changes and improve the game alot.

Another one i would grab is
- Hollywood damage
Names misleading, but this little mod does alot to make the game more fun.

I use and love Commander and RuB
That's just my personnal choice of mods, but since you've mentioned them I guess you enjoyed earlier versions.
JSGME is still a definate must have tool.
I'm not sure exactly what IuB is

Then there's lots of good graphical mods to choose from, there's a really good one over at the modmakers forum for all your sub interiors and dials.
<edit> yes it's the - Bordinstrumente 1.0 mentioned above

Disclaimer; Any mods mentioned/recommended are purely my personal preference only, there's a lot of mods to choose from so find the ones you like

Welcome back Herr Kaleun!

My favorite set up is SH3+1.4patch+JSGME+Com+IUb, plus don't forget that gramphone station up to speed with your fav music.

Copy of Das Boot director's cut good for a boost too...
