Gentlemen, your assistance please.
I have installed RUb 1.45, which alters data/library/sensors.dat. and corrects some wrong bearings on the radar. I now intend to install Stiebler's Radar_Detection mod which also alters data/library/sensors.dat and increases the range of radar detection equipment. Sensors.dat will be altered twice to modify two different aspects of how it functions, so which mod should I install first...or doesn't it matter ? Thanks for any help you can provide |

One file will overwrite the other.
Youd have to get a new sensor.dat that contains the changes of both mods in the same file. Sensor.dat is one of those files that will continue to bite you in the arse. Alot of mods use it , right down to FUBARs sub skins if i rememer correctly. usually the solution is to use the sensor.dat which has the most important changes youd like to keep - or d/l TT's tweaker and edit it yourself. |

Thanks for the fast response, Ducimus.
You've hit the nail on the head. If I knew whether Stiebler's mod included RUbs alterations, or vice versa, I'd know which mod to install first. Is there anyway I can find that out ? |

Stiebler's radar-detection mod stamps itself onto ANY existing sensors.dat file. It doesn't matter what is already there. The mod does not contain a copy of sensors.dat.

If all you want to do is extend your radar warning recievers range, id unload the mod from JSGE, load it into Time travellers SH3 tweaker, and edit the range myself. The program really isnt that hard to use. Just at first your like , "how does this thing work?" Once you figure it out, you'll start tweaking all sorts of stuff on your own.
Just make sure you set it to look where at the specific mod that has the sensor.dat youve been using and not the unmodified stock one. By default the tool looks in the main SH3 directory, so be careful. Backup your orginals, alhtough the tool does that for you just before you write change to file.. Be sure to remove "Copy of..." before re-enabling the mod after your done making your changes. |
