EDIT: See next post below in thread
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Ive been tinkering with a full blown indian ocean/pacific campaign. No historical relevance at all. Just an alternate campaign for fun. So far its been just a hackjob splicing Harbor traffic and Improved convoys to attempt it have it as an option to the existing atlantic/drumbeat/med campagins. However i think im at a point where id be better off scrapping that and runing this campaign so its mutuall exclusive. So im gonna scrap everything and start over with default files. Its just cleaner this way, and i wont run into issues. Now to the point, I want ot change Penang as the 12th floatillas base. Reason is i figure it would be nice to have a full service port. So i could go about this in two ways. 1. Have the player start off in beudoux (sp) in 42 and have the base change to penang in 43 2.) Just make it penang the whole campign, its not realistic to begin with anyway, so why worry about it? So how do i do this? Is it as simple as changing beudoux starting coords to that of penangs, rename it to penang, and physicaly move the object to where i want it to be in the LND layer? |

Moving your base also has something to do with the Campaign LND file. You might want to look into that. There's a few flotilla files laying around in SH3, too. Don't forget to change those.
But I don't know any specifics. I've never placed down any ports myself... But Rubini would know.

Well i figured it out. If anyone wants to know how to change a floatillas base, here it is, and its alot simpler then i thought, just using a file i didnt think it would use:
Take this floatilla.cfg entry for example: Quote:
After much looking around, the answer was found in a file i orginally thoguht was unrerlated. sh3/data/menu/en_menu.txt You'll find what your looking for nestled into alot of unrelated information: Quote:
760=Penang Then changed the appropriate entry in the floatilla.cfg. Works like a charm. Notice that you have room to add alot more numbers there. One idea would be to move the 11th floatilla to one of the northern bases near the artic :rotfl: |

So Ducimus,
Did you find out how to add a completely new flotilla? Or did you modify a default flotilla into Penang? Yes, I'd also like to see La Pallice.

I suppose you could do that. But it's not really neccessary for what im doing. Which is a total FICTION. The campaign im doing has no histroical relevance at all. This campaign isnt a WW2 submarine simulator, its a submarine game which takes place with WW2 era technowlegy. Ive played for realism a bunch. But sometimes i want to play for some lip smacking, edge of your seat thrills. My focus is on: - Small well protected convoys comprised of some JUICY targets. Composition is 4 ship convoys with 3 to 4 escorts. - HK encounters - Warship battles (havent added it yet but im going to put in some warship battles where you can take part or just watch) - cruise with a commerce raider - Be a "privateer" with the locals (occasional tugboat or trawler for you to use deck guns or flak guns on for fun) I think the overall inspiration is many of the stories ive read from WW2 pacific american subs. Blowing up sanpans, flattops, etc. |

Now having an acutal port there with docks or bunkers is another matter. I think that is set by the locations.cfg file in the terran directory. So to add La Pallice you'd have to (i think) 1.) Create and place it in the LND layer, noting the Long & lat coords.. 2.) give it a number in the en_menu.txt 3.) Edit your basic.cfg to use the number in step 2, and give it the coords you got from step 1 when you were in the LND layer. |

Rubini et al have tried to add the 3rd flotilla (La Pallice) to the game, but they keep getting CTDs...

Adding an entirely new floatilla is a wee bit different then a base. |
