Default Kreigsmarine Caps

Would any Modders be interested in making these caps for the sailors please?

I saved your pics for texturing, but the problem lies in the model needed to attatch them to the crew. The helmet currently used, as you know, is a BordmĂĽtze cap which will not work well with this Barret style hat.

Once I am happy with the Sub-Crew texture mod I am working on, I will look into mesh editing and try to incorporate your request.

In the American military we call it the "Class A" or "Dress" uniform, which indeed is what these caps are meant to be worn with. Uboat.net has some good information on this.

What needs to be done is re-adding the forage caps that some of the enlisted crew wears in the "vanilla" SH3, but are not there with the RUb and IUB mods.

These forage caps were worn for every day use by both the crew and officers if you look at some of the war time photos.

Thanks Totenkopf, I look forward to your results.
Thanks for all the input lads, much appreciated. I am only going by what I saw in the film "Action in the Atlantic" where the sailors wore the above mentioned hats. Maybe the film makers got it wrong? Any ideas? They look smart though eh?
To be honest I only saw the black hats being worn but have included the white ones just for reference.
It's what we call "Number Ones" or Dress uniform over here in Blighty.

Again, the problem would lie in modeling. The yoke on the uniforms deffinately needs to be a separate mesh or at least embossed from the mesh body. I am learning a lot about modeling and may be able to have a go at rendering something soon. I will let you know if I can accomodate.

Cheers!

I don't think that the men had them at sea - too little space was available for extras; I think that they had room for one pair of extra underwear, and that's about it - so they wouldn't normally wear their white caps or unis at sea.

If someone finds a photo of u-boat men at sea wearing them, then by all means, post them; otherwise I doubt the realism of it.
