Default that's not fair - I only just got here!

hmph, I am not 'appy.

I finished a patrol yesterday - the first since I re-installed the game after I had to change hard drives, so not from a long line of patrols, just the one.

I go back today and I am told the war has ended... WHAATT?

The date is Sept 1 1939.

What have I done wrong?

Don't tell me; I have to start a new career all over again - for the umptieth time..

fed up, sulk

Err.......don't how that happened, but maybe re-installing might help (don't hit me!)

It could be that you copy of SH3 is faulty - thats all I can think of, maybe someone else can help out.

grumble grumble. I could go back to the previous save perhaps and see if it happens again.

Was it because I didn't actually plod back to base do you suppose? or some sort of punishment for nobbling a neutral merchant?

'sigh'. I was going to re-install anyway, but keep the saves....

thanks anyway papa_smurf

Default I am worse then you

When I got back to base I found out that I had misread a flag (at night) and sunk one of our own large merchants. Cost me a thousand on that one and a trip to the eye Doctor. Could the flags be modded to be easier to see?

crumbling...?

hi she-wolf

you were also suffering from dodgy hydrophones, wer'nt you ? did you get that resolved ? and if so, what was it finally ?

what copy is your game-disc, is it an official Ubi one or a copy and are you up to date with all the patches. is the disk damaged or worn in any way ?

if you are running gwx, silent hunter commander et al, have you done an in-line install as is described in the gwx manual. do you have mods installed that may conflict ?

if you have un-installed and reinstalled a couple of times have you deleted all files to do with Ubi and Silent Hunter 3 in your Programme Files on your computer: go to, WINDOWS EXPLORER - MY COMPUTER -LOCAL DISK (C) or where ever you have stored them PROGRAMME FILES - look for UBISOFT, look for SILENT HUNTER 3.

delete all files before you reinstall - this is what i had to do, eventually, after numerous conflicts - i did not know about this at the time, but apparently - and i got it from this forum, this can help. and it seems to have done the trick for me.

you are basically having a complete clean-out of everything UBI and SH3. removing chances of conflict at reinstall.

if you feel uncertain as to what i have suggested ask around on this forum, there are a lot of people with loads more experience than me.

i've run out of quest?ons....suggestions....

hope this helps

Go into My Documents/SH3/data/cfg/Careers/*your kaleun's name* and open both the Careers and Career_0 files with notepad, find the line WarOver= and make sure it says false.

I think Flag4 has hit it on the noggin!

The best thing (all though not your favorite thing I bet!) to do is to get rid of everything!!
Keep all the mods that you've downloaded in their zipped up or downloaded file instance, but uninstall everyone of them, and SH3 itself.

Then go hunting on the hard drive and KILL anything you see that is either Mod or SH3 related.

Then start with a full, clean reinstall of SH3, then add your mods, I suggest you add them one by one, starting with GWX first, and SH3 commander last.

Then give it a good old try again.

Good luck!

Thats probably the reason as it was your first patrol.

This worked for me when I had the same issue.

hi all, thanks for all the input. 3Jane, I ESPECIALLY like the tip about making 'war over = false'. I have tucked that one away safe, in case it happens again.

Now then, what a carry on! I tried to uninstall SH3 but was getting a message about an error to do with the network when MSI was trying to uninstall-eh? There were a couple of error codes, but useless info as when I tried to sort it out through the event viewer link, Microsoft says 'ah, we can't help you with that one..'.

So then I tried to get rid of everything visible and with hidden folders made visible but even then I couldn't re-install, so I actually deleted and then wiped all traces of SH3 from the drive, then went through the registry with a knife and fork and chopped out all keys named Ubisoft. Well that seemed to do the trick and I have installed the game again, and I have put the 1.4b patch on.

Where do I get this 1.03 patch from ( and isn't that an earlier patch to 1.4b?) and, I would like to download and install a fresh copy of GWX, rather than use my saved copy - just in case, or I could use GameShadows upgrade. If you think I should go for a fresh copy, can you please remind me where to get it??

Ta everso, oh - and what is this SH Commander thing??

If you're at 1.4b you've gone as far as you can, patch-wise.

ok then, don't bother with any previous - or does it refer to GWX, along with some binary files, rather than SH3?

Jimbuna ( I think) said...

6.Download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

ahh, s'okay, found the answers Danlisa has a download and all the other files are there too
