Where is the Canal?

Not that I've ventured over that way yet but I was looking a the map and I couldn't see the Panama canal. Wasn't that thing completed by 1914?

The canal was filled in during WWII.

Having lived in the Panama Canal Zone from 1952-1978, I assume you are joking when you told Nedlam that the Canal was filled in during WWII. :hmm:

It was one of the strongest defended places in US custudy during WWII and it sure was not filled in.

It was not added in to the game the same way the eastern entrances into Scapa Flow were not put in.

Filled in? lol Put the crack pipe down and slowly back away from your computer.

They may have tried to block small parts of the canal, but given the huge pain in the rear to get the canal built in the first place there is NO WAY they would have completly filled it in.

Look to find the Suez Canal, it is not modelled either.
Anyway for a German sub to pass to pass thorugh the Panama canal ot the Suez canal would be quite unrealistic: they should've been modelled though, just like the entrances to the east of Scapa Flow which Prien used....

Also the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal is not modelled. The Imperial Navy in WWI and the Uboots in WWII used this canal to go from Kiel into the North Sea instead of taking the long route around Denmark.

The rest I could live without, but this would have been nice for obvious reasons.

It certainly would have, I didn't even know about it until now. Being in a type IIA and having to go around Denmark to get to my patrol area means I burn about 35-40% of my fuel just getting there, and that's on ahead slow. Leaves me very little fuel for flanking speeds. I have to give up on a lot of targets because I can't waste fuel chasing them at high speed.
