After playing the tutorials for several hours on 90% realism, I've started my first patrol. As soon as I hit 1024 compression, all sounds cut out and they don't come back. No music, nothing. I have to quit the game and come back in to get it back. I've Googled around and tried the forum search, but I've only seen one minor mention of this problem and it didn't say anything about a cause, fix, or workaround. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Thats weird
![]() Often my sound cuts out at high time compression, but it always comes back instantly as soon as I drop back to normal time. Are your sound card drivers up to date?

I've got a 2.5 GHz P4, 1.5 GB RAM, GeForce FX 5200 video card. ESS 1969 PCI sound card (a basic, semi-old card).
I tried exiting and reloading my last save, but since I had saved it after the sound cut out, the sound was still gone. I had to load an earlier save to get sound back, and it hasn't done it since then. Still, I'd like to fix it because I know it's probably gonna happen again. |

Hey thanks for the link and advice, I'll try playing around with those settings and hope that it straightens out. So far I've been able to at least work around it by rebooting and reloading the game. If I just quit the game and reload, it's the same, I have to actually reboot to get it to work for some reason. Also, I'm not playing on a notebook, it's a regular PC. Thanks again for helping.
