Default Just a month ago...

This weekend, just a month ago, we had the Big Subsim Meeting in Holland.

For me it was a very nice experience to meet in the flesh people like Sharkstooth, Neal, Florin and so many names I already knew from the forums. No flaming discussions, just fun and 'gezelligheid'. I felt among friends!

In this way I want to thank all that made the Meeting possible, and all that participated. A special thanks to Horsa, our professional photographer, who portrayed the meeting in a series of beautiful pictures (and made me pose for my new avatar!).

I was a Newbee to the Subsim Meetings, but I would urge anybody to join the next meeting, if possible. It's definitly fun.

Thanks to all.

London would be great. There are plenty of Brits on this forum and obviously for our Euro friends it is just a short trip across the channel.

There is this secret committee that decides where to go next time...
Membership is only open for those who did already show up, so you have to gain the right to vote by appearing first.

I'm starting a grass-roots campaign to have the 4th International SubClub meeting in Boston, Mass. Within short driving distance are:

USS Constitution (Boston)
Mystic Seaport (Mystic, CT)
Sonalysts (Waterford, CT)
US Navy Submarine Force Museum / USS Nautilus (Groton, CT)
Soviet Juliett-class Sub (Providence, RI)
Battleship Cove (Fall River, MA)
US Naval War College Museum (Newport, RI)

Who do I need to bribe?

How about some influential forum members who were present at the last meeting?
(A tip: the Dutch gained a lot of respect for handling the Third Meeting)

Hm even I could make Boston and these do sound interesting, even though I am new to the forum. To ask a mayhaps inane question, why don't you guys LAN? I for one would find it absolutely awesome to get together with a real live wolf pack, heck you could have a gathering in both Europe and the States and then each group meet online for that matter.

To pose a question: There are Unreal tournaments across the US, are there naval sim tournaments? If not why not start one?

(Yes I realize the finance of such a thing is a bear, but heck, I'm sure if you got all of the guys on here and other forums to rally around you'd get something going, or if you pull weight with the developers see if they'd sponser for publicity.

*Edit: Realized the rather dismal multiplayer capacity of SHIII... guess we wait till next round, my bad.*

I second that. A year from now I might have the money for a bus ticket!
