Default RUB and German Text changes - Ship sinking message issue

I'm using RUB1.44, playing with German language text. I noted that RUB has changed the Navigator's title in the text box to something like obersteuermann (or close anyway), and I saw in the text file where extra spaces had been added to the things the Nav says to make room for that longer title so it wouldn't over-write the messages about what he was saying. Generally, this works just fine.

Just a couple of questions though:

1. Is there a reason his new title comes out in fairly bright yellow in the text box in game, when no one else's does? Can that be changed to be the same color as everybody else's title?

2. When I sink a ship (at least by deck gun, as I did tonight), it seems to be the Nav for some reason who announces that the target has been destroyed, but the text for this message is all garbled so I'm not really sure. It looks as if perhaps the new, longer Nav's title has over-written this particular text message, BUT I was not able to locate this particular line in the text file where the other changes had been made (data\Menu\de_menu.txt) - any idea where this particular message is so I can try to fix it to make it readable again?

Thanks for all the great work on RUB and the other mods - they're really helping keep the game fresh and enjoyable

[edit] OMG!! - with this post I guess I must have crossed the Equator or something - my avatar went from a pretty salty looking "navy dude" to some drag queen from Bankok or something that reminds me of something I once saw in a strip joint by the Navy base in Key West a few years back

The Obersteuermann title should be the same colour as the other titles. I have not noticed it being different, so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

The text is 'Einheit zerstört'. I put the same gap in there as in the other messages, but maybe it's not enough. I'll look into it (and the yellow text issue).

Isn't the highlighted text reflective of the highlighted officer? Highlight the WE, his message text goes yellow. Highlight NA, likewise.

Hmmm - never noticed that but I'll try to remember to check it when I get back on board - IIRC I do remember seeing a sort of burnt-orange/brown highlighting of at least some of the text messages themselves when they're first displayed, which then fade/change to grey/white after they've been displayed for a while, but in any event though, none of the other officers' titles or any other text I've seen come out in this particular shade of bright yellow under any circumstances

Hmmm - I just checked my RUB 1.44 de_menu.txt file and Lines 4140, 4141 and 4142 just read "Einheit zerstört" with no extra spaces added to any of them. I've added in the same number of spaces that were added before the weather report text, so next time I sink something I'll see what happens.

Hmmm. Now you mention it, I think that was something I missed until after the 1.44 release. I think I fixed it just after 1.44 went live. It's definitely fixed for future versions.

Cool - turns out that the bright yellow thing is from having the officer in question highlighted and it works that way for all the officers, not just the nav - I guess with the others only being a couple of letters long I never noticed it on them but a yellow "Obersteuermann" really stands out

I didn't manage to sink anything to check out the message spacing fix yet - I did stalk my first task force and hit something (hopefully either the cruiser or carrier I was aiming for, but there were several overlapping warships so can't tell who I hit), but I'm still down reloading and dodging destroyers so I haven't been able to find out what I hit or whether I'm gonna be able to find her again and sink her or not

Good luck and good hunting!

Well, bummer - that destroyer they left behind did her job - by the time I could get back up and circle around, I could find no trace of any straggler, so I just have to hope that my hit will at least lay one of them up in dry dock for a few months anyway.

I do have some good news, however - I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance...no, wait, actually, I did manage to locate and sink a nice enemy C2 the next night - my soundman reported that I had some high speed screws approaching so I had to spend 4 torps on her to make sure she went under even though my first salvo of 2 had her dead in the water and probably would have been enough if I could have waited around.

Even more good news is that adding those extra spaces before the "Einheit zerstört" lines does seem to have done the trick, and the text came out ungarbled this time.
